How to Catch Legendary Aniimo
Legendary Aniimo are caught, not pulled. Craft the pod, win the fight, throw the pod.
The short version
- Legendary Aniimo are caught in the open world. They are not handed out by gacha character banners or pack pulls.
- Crafting a Legendary Aniipod triggers an exclusive story and an encounter on the map, so the craft is what starts the hunt.
- You have to defeat the legendary before you can bond with it.
- The bond itself is formed by throwing the Legendary Aniipod you crafted beforehand.
- Aniimo are discovered and caught in the wild without paying real money.
Legendary Aniimo work in an order that catches people out, so learn the order before you learn anything else. You craft a Legendary Aniipod. Crafting it triggers an exclusive story and an encounter out on the map. You defeat the legendary there, and then you throw the pod you already made to form the bond.
That means the craft is not the last step of the hunt. It is the first one. Nothing appears on your map to fight until the pod exists, and the pod is what you throw at the end, so you are building the key and the invitation in the same action.
Below is that sequence in the order you will actually meet it, plus the one thing worth knowing up front about where legendaries come from at all.
Legendary Aniimo are not a banner pull
This is the first thing to get straight, because it changes how you plan. Aniimo, legendaries included, are caught in the open world. They are not distributed through gacha character banners or pack pulls, and they are discovered and caught in the wild without paying real money.
So there is no wallet shortcut to a legendary and no point saving for one. The path is the same for everybody: craft, fight, throw. The general catching rules live in our Aniipods and Alpha hunting guide, and this page assumes you already know how a pod works in your hand.
Craft the Aniipod first, because the craft starts the encounter
Crafting a legendary Anipod triggers an exclusive story and an encounter on the map. That is the trigger. You are not out wandering hoping to stumble onto something; the game puts the encounter in front of you once the pod is finished.
Treat the craft as a commitment, then, not as preparation you do idly in a menu. The moment it completes, there is a story running and a legendary waiting somewhere you can walk to. Craft when you are ready to go and fight, not when you happen to have a free slot in your bag.
Win the fight, then throw the pod
Defeating a legendary Aniimo is what allows you to form a bond with it. Beating it does not end the encounter, and it does not hand the creature over. It opens the door.
The bond is formed by throwing the Legendary Aniipod you crafted beforehand. Same pod. The one whose crafting brought the encounter into existence is the one you use to close it out, which is the clearest reason to understand the sequence rather than improvise it. Craft, then story and encounter, then defeat, then throw.
- Legendary tokensThe material the Legendary Aniipod is crafted from.
- Craft the Legendary AniipodCrafting it unlocks the creature's exclusive story and encounter on the map.
- Defeat the legendary in battleThe fight comes before any attempt to catch it.
- Throw the crafted AniipodThrowing it seals the bond with the legendary.
Where to start
Remember the shape and the rest follows: the pod comes first and finishes last. Craft it when you are ready to fight, follow the story it opens, beat the legendary, then throw.
