Can you control your Aniimo in Egg Heist?

Whether players directly control an Aniimo in Egg Heist is unsettled: it is given both that they cannot and that they directly control the main Aniimo in team slot one, which is also the only one they can twine with.

This one is not settled.

Both versions are shown because the disagreement is itself information — usually it means the mechanic changed between beta builds.

Put the Aniimo you want to play in slot one. It is the only one you can twine with here.

Egg Heist runs on one main Aniimo, the first in your team list. Where direct control applies, that main Aniimo is the only one you control; the rest of your roster is not yours to switch into. That is a real change from Holo-Battle Simulation, where you can swap to any team member and play its full kit, ultimates included.

Slot one matters because of what twining gets you in a fight. Your Pathfinder fights alongside your Aniimo, but in trainer form you cannot dodge. As a creature you can dodge attacks, and a creature you are playing stays alive longer than one left to the AI. Pick a slot one Aniimo you are comfortable fighting with, not just the strongest one on paper.

What happens when you carry the egg in Egg Heist

Whoever digs out the central Giant Darkler Egg twines with it and turns into the egg for the run to extraction. For that stretch you are not playing your Aniimo at all. You lose every combat ability and can only jump and roll or dash until the team extracts, so the rest of the team has to do the fighting while you move.

Not settled: How much control Egg Heist gives you over your Aniimo is not settled. The mode is described both as giving you direct control of the slot one Aniimo and as giving you no direct control at all. The rule that only the first Aniimo can be twined with holds either way.
