Egg Heist egg form controls: roll, dash, jump and drop
Inside the egg you can roll, dash and jump, and nothing else. Press C to set it down without losing it. Here is what carrying the egg costs you.
The short version
- In Egg Heist you carry the egg by twining with it, which turns you into the egg until your team extracts.
- As the egg you lose all combat abilities. You can roll quickly, dash or sprint, and jump.
- Moving as the egg is slower and more cumbersome than moving as an Aniimo, and heavy loads lower your speed further.
- Pressing C untwines you and sets the egg down temporarily. You do not forfeit it and can pick it up again later.
Egg Heist has one job at its centre: get the egg to the extraction boat. You don't carry it in your arms. You twine with it, and you become the egg.
That changes how you move. You get a short, dedicated movement set, you lose your fighting kit, and everything feels heavier. This guide covers the controls you have while you are the egg, what the weight does to you, and how to put the egg down without giving it up.
How you end up inside the egg
In Egg Heist, you must twine with an egg to collect it, carry it and roll it to the extraction boat. Twining with the egg or picking it up physically transforms you into it, and you travel inside it from then on. Twining has its own guide on this site. For this mode, the short version is that carrying the egg and being the egg are the same thing.
The central egg works the same way. Whoever digs it out twines with it and transforms into the egg while carrying it to extraction. In Operation: Egg Heist that objective is the Giant Darkler Egg.
Roll, dash and jump: the egg form controls
While you carry an egg you use a dedicated movement set. The egg can roll quickly, dash or sprint, and jump. That is your whole toolkit until the team extracts.
The catch is what you give up for it. The player who twines with the Giant Darkler Egg loses all combat abilities. You cannot fight your way out of trouble as the egg, so your teammates are the ones doing the fighting while you move. Roll to cover ground, dash when you need a burst, jump when the route asks for it.
Weight and speed while carrying
Moving while carrying or transformed into an egg is slower and more cumbersome than moving as an Aniimo. Carrying heavy loads in Egg Heist lowers your movement speed on top of that.
In practice this means the egg carrier is the slowest member of the team and the easiest to reach. Plan the route to the boat around that, not around how fast you would be on your own.
Dropping the egg with C
Pressing C untwines you from egg form. This sets the egg down temporarily without forfeiting it, so you can come back and retrieve it later.
That is the one way to get your normal self back mid run. Since the egg form has no combat abilities, untwining is what lets you stop being cargo for a moment, then twine again and carry on to extraction.
Where to start
Treat the egg form as a different character with three moves and no attacks. Let the team fight, keep the carrier on the shortest route to the boat, and press C to set the egg down when you need your hands free. It stays yours to pick up again.
