Guides › Helion or Lunara: Choosing a Starter

Who are the starter Aniimo?

The starter Aniimo are unsettled: the first major decision in the game is a choice between Lunara, Spirit of the Moon, a Light-type Aniimo given both as a fox and as a divine wolf, and a selectable Sun counterpart named Helion, Elion or Halcyon, Spirit of the Sun, and they are also given as a lineup that includes Fenelon.

Both options share identical base stats across every category and use the Light element.

Light is also referred to as Holy, meaning neither starter carries an elemental weakness the other avoids. The split comes down to range, attack pacing, and skill mechanics.

Because both creatures fill DPS roles within the same element, your decision dictates your combat range throughout early progression. One companion fights up close with burst damage and crowd control, while the other attacks from safety using area magic.

Helion mechanics and starter evolution

Helion fights as a close-range physical striker and breaker. Its attacks deal burst damage in small areas, demanding precise positioning and timing. For grouping targets, Holy Storm creates a spinning vortex that pulls surrounding enemies toward its center with a 150% break multiplier. Helion can also stun targets using an empowered attack and execute Holy Roar.

In basic combat, the Solar Grace trait creates a Solar Halo on every fourth basic attack, empowering the next active skill while increasing overall damage. For traversal, the Hustle exploration Mobility ability increases sprint and movement speed at the cost of stamina. During combat, triggering the Ultimate ability Helion's Judgment inflicts heavy damage and temporarily evolves Helion into Soleon.

Lunara ranged combat

Lunara is a fox DPS that attacks with ranged magic. It relies on wide area-of-effect spells and sustained damage from a distance rather than close-range melee strikes.

Its basic rotation includes Lumin Bolts to fire light projectiles and Lunar Eclipse to pour moonlight onto a single target. To manage resources, the Moon-Washed skill restores EP. Lunara also increases damage through passive skills, while its Lunar Power trait awards stacks of Silver Moon Mark whenever skills are used.
