The short version

  1. Dark Aniimo take increased damage from Light and Wind attacks, so those are the two elements to keep away from your Dark picks.
  2. Water and Wind Aniimo resist Dark attacks and take only 0.625× damage, which makes Wind a bad matchup for Dark in both directions.
  3. Pawney is pure Dark in both its standard and Prismana forms, and Rookie is a Dark-type breaker.
  4. Prismana Ignitis keeps the same Fire and Dark typing as its Highland form and gains no extra element.
  5. Three Prismana forms add Dark to a creature that does not otherwise have it: Blazen (Dark and Electric), Grisbow (Earth and Dark) and Stellarys (Dark and Ice).

Dark is a small element in Aniimo, but it turns up in more places than the roster first suggests. A handful of Aniimo are Dark in their normal form, and several Prismana forms bolt Dark on as a second element.

This page lists every Dark Aniimo and Prismana form, says what role each one fills, and covers the two things you need to know when you take one into a fight: what hits Dark hard, and what Dark struggles to hurt.

What Dark is weak to and what resists it

Dark Aniimo take increased damage from Light and Wind attacks. If the other side is fielding either element, your Dark picks are the ones taking the extra punishment.

Going the other way, Water and Wind Aniimo resist Dark attacks, taking 0.625× damage. That leaves Wind as the awkward one. It hits Dark harder and also takes less from Dark, so a Dark Aniimo facing a Wind Aniimo loses on both counts. Against Water the problem is only on your side: your Dark hits are blunted, but Water is not listed as hitting Dark harder.

The full damage multiplier system has its own page on this site. For Dark, those two pairs are what matter.

0.625×

Damage Water and Wind Aniimo take from Dark

Water and Wind Aniimo resist Dark attacks, so Dark is a poor choice against them.

Pure Dark Aniimo: Pawney and Rookie

Pawney
Pawney

Standard Pawney is a single-element Dark Aniimo. Its Prismana form keeps that pure Dark typing, so Prismana Pawney does not pick up a second element the way some other Prismana forms do. Whatever you know about Pawney's matchups still applies to its Prismana version.

Rookie is a Dark-type breaker. Like Pawney, it carries Dark with nothing else attached, which means Light and Wind are its clear threats and Water and Wind are the targets it will struggle to dent.

Dual-element Dark Aniimo: Ignitis, Inferlupa and Hexen

Ignitis
Ignitis

Ignitis is a Fire and Dark DPS Aniimo. Its Prismana form shares the same typing as its Highland form and does not gain an extra element, so Prismana Ignitis is still Fire and Dark. If you were hoping the Prismana version changes its matchups, it does not.

Inferlupa is also a dual Fire and Dark Aniimo, which puts it in the same elemental pairing as Ignitis.

Hexen is the support of the group. It is Dark and Grass and fills a Regen support role, so it is the Dark Aniimo you bring to keep a team healthy rather than to deal the damage.

Ignitis is a Fire and Dark DPS Aniimo. Its Prismana form keeps the same typing.

Prismana forms that add Dark

Stellarys
Stellarys

Several Prismana Aniimo carry Dark where the creature's usual form does not. Which free Prismana to take is covered in the Prismana Pact guide on this site; here is only what each one does to Dark.

Blazen's Prismana form adds the Dark element, making it Dark and Electric.

Grisbow's Prismana form adds Dark to its default Earth element. Prismana Grizbo is likewise a dual Earth and Dark type.

Prismana Stellarys is a dual Dark and Ice type. Stellarys is a ranged Dark damage dealer and suits the main DPS role, so of the Prismana forms here it is the obvious pick if you want Dark damage at range.

All of these pick up Dark's exposure to Light and Wind along with the element, so a Prismana form that adds Dark changes what you need to watch out for, not just what it hits with.

Where to start

Pick by role. For damage, take Ignitis or Stellarys. For breaking, take Rookie. For sustain, take Hexen. Whichever you take, keep them out of fights against Light and Wind, and don't count on Dark attacks to carry a fight against Water or Wind Aniimo.
