Pawney line: grappling, Shadow Cut and where to find it
Pawney is the dark team's main DPS: up to 30% bonus damage on broken or crowd-controlled targets, the top attack of the free Prismana picks, and a Warrior quest to unlock.

The short version
- Pawney is the main DPS of the recommended dark team, with Infal Lupa on break, Turbo on support and Glacy healing.
- Pawney's trait grants up to 30% bonus damage against enemies that are broken or under crowd control, and its ultimate also hits broken enemies harder.
- Pawney's base attack is 128 (also given as 125), the highest of the six free Prismana options.
- Prismana Pawney keeps the pure Dark typing of the standard form, so picking it changes nothing about how you build around it.
- You get Pawney through the Warrior quest line, which branches into a Pawney path and a separate Inferlupa path.
Pawney is a damage dealer that wants someone else to do the setup. It hits hard on its own, but its trait and its ultimate both get better once a target is broken or locked down, and the team built around it exists to make that happen.
This page covers what Pawney does in a fight, why it is the strongest free Prismana pick on raw attack, and the quest you need to run to get it. The full skill breakdowns for Pawney and its relatives live on the site's forms and combat kits page; here they get a sentence where they are needed.
Pawney's job on the dark team
Pawney is the main DPS of the recommended dark team. The rest of the lineup is there to feed it: Infal Lupa handles break, Turbo plays support and Glacy heals.
That split matters because of how Pawney's damage works. Its trait grants up to 30% bonus damage against enemies that are broken or under crowd control. Its ultimate deals increased damage to broken enemies. Both payoffs point the same way, so the order of play is simple: let Infal Lupa break the target, then spend Pawney's damage while the window is open. Using the ultimate on a target that is not yet broken wastes the part of it that makes it worth saving.
30%
Trait bonus damage against broken or controlled enemies
Hook Shot and getting into range
The grappling in this line is Hook Shot. It aims a reticle and pulls you toward a targeted wall or enemy.
On an enemy, that closes the gap so Pawney can start dealing damage the moment a break lands. On a wall, it is movement: a way across terrain rather than around it. Either way you aim it, so it rewards picking the target deliberately rather than firing it off on cooldown.
Prismana Pawney: attack and typing
Pawney has a Prismana form, and it is the best of the six free Prismana options on raw attack. Its base attack stat is 128, though the figure is also given as 125. Either way it sits at the top of that group, which is the main reason a damage player looks at it first. The case for and against each free pick is covered on the site's Prismana Pact page.
Standard Pawney is a single-element Dark Aniimo, and Prismana Pawney retains that pure Dark typing. Nothing about your team or your matchups changes when you swap one for the other. If you have built the dark team around standard Pawney, the Prismana form drops straight into the same slot.

Where Pawney sits among its relatives
Pawney shares a forms page on this site with Thornblade and Scorchhowl, and the combat kits are compared there in full. The short version for a Dark player is that the relatives do not share Pawney's single element. Thornblade (Thunderstorm), for example, carries the lightning combat skill Lightning Impact. If you want pure Dark damage, Pawney is the one to take.
Unlocking Pawney through the Warrior quest line
You get Pawney by running the Warrior quest line. It is required for both Pawney and Inferlupa, and it branches into a separate path for each.
The Inferlupa branch concerns the secret of Beast Fang Ridge. The other branch is the one that leads to Pawney, so if Pawney is your goal, make sure that is the path you follow.
Where to start
Run the Warrior quest line and take the Pawney branch. Build the dark team so Infal Lupa breaks targets before Pawney commits, and save the ultimate for broken enemies. If you want the strongest free Prismana on attack, Prismana Pawney is it, and it stays pure Dark, so your team does not need to change.
