How to Get Evolution Stones in Aniimo

Dewdrop Crystals come from beating a creature's own line, stones drop from Gamma and Nova Aniimo, and some stones, like the Night Stone, gate a specific evolution.

The short version

  1. Resonance Star Up needs dewdrops or Dewdrop Crystals plus an Elemental Stone or evolution crystals, so you farm two kinds of material, not one.
  2. Dewdrop Crystals drop from defeating wild Aniimo in the same evolutionary line: Emberpup Dewdrop Crystals come from Emberpup, Flameruff or Scorchhowl.
  3. Evolution stones come from defeating Gamma or Nova stage Aniimo, and it is a chance, not a guarantee.
  4. Specific stones gate specific evolutions: Blaze Stones for Fire-type Aniimo, and a Night Stone for both Ignitis and Inferlupa.
  5. When an evolution asks you to defeat a creature, capturing it does not count. You have to beat it.

Aniimo evolution runs on materials. Evolving a creature needs specific resources, and so does every Resonance Star-Up along the way, so the real question is never "how do I evolve this" but "where do the stones and crystals come from".

The short answer is combat. Dewdrop Crystals come from fighting a creature's own line, evolution stones come from fighting the stronger stages of wild Aniimo, and a few evolutions want one particular stone on top. This guide covers where each comes from, then walks through Wisptis into Ignitis as a full example, Night Stone included.

One thing to clear up first. Starter transformations are not evolution. They give a temporary combat power boost, and nothing about them is permanent, so they cost you none of the materials below.

What Star-Up and Ascension Actually Spend

Progress within a stage happens through Resonance Star Up. Each one needs two things: dewdrops or Dewdrop Crystals, along with an Elemental Stone or evolution crystals. Keep that pairing in mind, because it means you are always farming a creature-specific material and a stone at the same time.

Fill every Resonance Star-Up in an Aniimo's current stage and Ascension unlocks. Ascension spends elemental stones and other materials, moves the creature to its next stage, and grants attribute bonuses. Stones are the shared cost across both steps, which is why they are the thing you will run short of.

Dewdrop Crystals and Emberpup Evolution

Emberpup
Emberpup

Dewdrop Crystals are tied to an evolutionary line, and you get them by defeating wild Aniimo from that line. The Emberpup line is the clean example. Emberpup Dewdrop Crystals drop from defeating Emberpup, Flameruff or Scorchhowl, so any member of the family feeds the same pool.

That makes the plan for Emberpup evolution simple: fight whichever stage of the line you find most easily. You do not need to hunt the base form specifically. The same logic applies to every line, so before you farm, know which creatures share your target's family.

Where Elemental Stones Come From

Evolution stones drop from defeating Gamma or Nova stage Aniimo. It is a chance per defeat, not a fixed reward, so expect to fight several before one lands. Weaker stages are fine for Dewdrop Crystals but are not where your stones come from.

Stones are typed. Blaze Stones are the evolution material for Fire-type Aniimo, and the Night Stone is needed for both Ignitis and Inferlupa. If you are working toward either of those, the Night Stone is the item to watch for.

Branching evolutions add one more source. The Companion Handbook provides exclusive evolution materials used for branching creature evolution. How those branches unlock is covered in our guide to special and branching evolutions; for this page, all you need to know is that the Handbook is where those materials come from.

Worked Example: Wisptis Into Ignitis

Wisptis
Wisptis

Evolving Wisptis into Ignitis requires a Night Stone. The rest of the requirement is not settled. It is given both as defeating three wild Wisptis of the same form in succession while using it, and as a Burning Soul. Have the Night Stone ready either way, and if you go the defeat route, note the rule that trips people up: capturing a wild Wisptis does not count toward the requirement. They must be defeated.

Finding Wisptis takes some planning. It only spawns at night, and it has a cloaking ability, so it is easier to miss than most. It appears across several map areas, including Balerion Veil, Barrowline Valley and the Mistwoods. Barrowline Valley has more of them than the Mistwoods, so start there.

Wisptis also branches, into Ignitis or Fulmintis. Catching two lets you take both paths instead of choosing one.

Why Ignitis Is Worth the Night Stone

Ignitis
Ignitis

Ignitis is an Alpha boss, and it fights like one. Its attack is very high, and its first hit can deal half the player's HP. It is a Fire and Dark DPS Aniimo; its Prismana form shares the same typing as its Highland form and does not gain an extra element.

Its kit rewards chaining kills. The passive Battle Lust grants a stack for each enemy Ignitis defeats, each stack giving 25% extra damage, up to two stacks lasting 20 seconds. Its innate skill Dark Soul grants a time-limited free recast immediately when it defeats an enemy. Put together, each kill sets up the next, which is why Ignitis performs well against groups and is regarded as the best Dark DPS for crowds.

Ignitis gains a stack for each enemy it defeats, up to two stacks lasting 20 seconds, which is why it suits fights against groups.

Where to start

Farm Dewdrop Crystals from whichever member of a line is easiest to find, fight Gamma and Nova Aniimo for stones, and check whether your target needs a specific one such as a Blaze Stone or Night Stone. For Ignitis, get the Night Stone, go to Barrowline Valley at night, and defeat your Wisptis rather than catching them.
