Egg Heist Sanctum walkthrough: gates, digging and challenges
Where an Egg Heist run starts, what the blue and purple gates do, how to dig out the egg, and which team makeup opens the Sanctum routes you would otherwise have to walk around.
The short version
- Every Egg Heist match starts on the beach beside the boats, and the blue gate is your way into the Sanctum.
- Going through the blue main door tells you which of the seven map layouts this run uses.
- You dig the egg out by pressing F, then carry it back to the boat on the beach. Escaping on the egg boat ends the raid.
- Sanctum obstacles react to skills and elements: some rocks break to skills, some barriers need fire. A team covering several elements opens more routes.
- The purple gate takes you out of the Sanctum to the outdoor area by the boats, and statues start limited-time challenges along the way.
Operation: Egg Heist has one job at its centre. You explore the Lost Sanctum, find an egg and get it out, picking up loot as you go. Everything else in a run is about doing that efficiently.
This walkthrough follows one run in order: the beach, the blue gate, the Sanctum's obstacles and statue challenges, digging the egg, and the boat out. How many eggs spawn and who ends up with them has its own page, "Egg Heist eggs: how many spawn, where, and who gets them". Sanctums as a dungeon type are covered in "Sanctums: Puzzle Dungeons and Rewards".
The beach and the blue gate
Every Egg Heist match starts in the same place: the beach, beside the boats. Look at them before you leave, because that is where the run finishes too.
Your first objective is the blue gate. It is the way into the Sanctum, and finding it does more than let you in. Going through the blue main door tells you which map layout this dungeon uses. Egg Heist has seven maps in total, used across its modes including Chaos and Nightmare, so the run doesn't really take shape until you are through that door.

Fog, rocks and fire barriers inside the Sanctum
On higher ranks and difficulties the labyrinth map is covered by fog of war until you explore it. The layout you learned at the door tells you which map this is. The fog means you still have to walk it to see it.
The Sanctum's obstacles and mechanisms react to skills and to specific elements. Some rocks break when hit with skills. Some barriers need fire attacks. In practice, a team covering several elements can open more routes than a team that all brings the same one. If nobody in your group can answer a barrier, that path stays shut and you go the long way round.
Watch for statues as well. A statue starts the dungeon's challenge mode, which runs as a limited-time challenge. Start one when you are ready to commit to it, because the clock runs from the moment it begins.
Digging the egg and the boat out
Once you have found the egg, you have to dig it out first. Press F to unearth it in the Sanctum.
Then you carry it out of the dungeon and back to the boat on the beach, where you can deposit it. Escaping on the egg boat ends the raid, so make sure you are done before you leave.
The purple gate is the way out. Going through it takes you out of the Sanctum and back to the outdoor area near the boats. You came in through blue and you leave through purple.
- Beach by the boatsEvery Egg Heist match begins here.
- Blue gateThe way into the Sanctum. It reveals which map layout the dungeon uses.
- Dig the eggPress F to unearth the egg in the Sanctum.
- Egg boat on the beachCarry the egg out and deposit it. Escaping on the egg boat ends the raid.
Where to start
Go straight for the blue gate, because going through it tells you the layout. Bring more than one element so fire barriers and breakable rocks don't block your routes. Start statue challenges only when you can finish them. Once you have dug the egg out with F, go back through the purple gate to the boat, and leave only when you are ready for the raid to end.
