How egg carrying and extraction work in Egg Heist
Carrying the objective egg in Egg Heist means becoming it, losing your combat abilities, and rolling to a boat while other teams try to stop you.
The short version
- Digging up and picking up eggs takes repeated presses of the interact button, not one hold.
- Twining with an egg transforms you into it. You can roll, jump and dash, and the dash is on a cooldown.
- The carrier of the Giant Darkler Egg has no combat abilities at all and needs teammates escorting them to evacuation.
- Tough Egg is a Common talent giving +10% damage reduction while you are twined with an Egg. Both ranks are listed at that value.
- Eggs only count once you interact with the boat and submit them.
- A Pathfinder can extract alone, ahead of the team, after finishing one personal objective.
- Dying or failing to extract costs you carried items, your backpack and unprotected gear.
- Extracted eggs arrive in your in-game mailbox and have to be collected before they can go into a hatcher or home incubator.
Egg Heist drops teams into a dungeon sanctum to compete over rare eggs, which usually sit in its large rooms. Finding one is not the hard part. Getting out with it is.
Eggs are not items you tuck into a bag. You twine with an egg, and twining with an egg turns you into the egg. The player who twines with the objective Giant Darkler Egg loses all combat abilities and can do nothing but roll or jump until the team extracts.
That single rule shapes the rest of the mode: how your team moves, what the defensive talent is for, why the boat is the only thing that counts as finishing, and how expensive one death is.
Digging the egg up, then becoming it
Picking an egg up is an interact prompt you have to work at. Digging up and picking up eggs in Egg Heist takes repeated presses of the interact button, so the moment you commit to an egg is a moment you are standing still and making noise.
Once you have it, transport and extraction both run through twining. You twine with the egg, transform into it, and roll it out. That is the whole movement kit: roll and jump. There is also a dash available while you are carrying or transformed into an egg, and it is on a cooldown, so treat it as an escape tool rather than a way to travel.
You are not locked in. You can manually untwine to set an egg down temporarily and come back for it later. That is worth remembering when a fight starts on top of you, because an egg on the ground is at least an egg you are not welded to.
The carrier cannot fight, so the team has to
The player twined with the objective Giant Darkler Egg loses all combat abilities. Not reduced damage, not a weaker kit. None. Until the team extracts, that player is a rolling objective, and the rest of the team exists to escort them to evacuation.
This matters because Egg Heist is played against other players. Teams battle each other to extract with special eggs, so the trip out is contested by people who want exactly what you are carrying. A carrier who gets separated has no answer of their own.
The one thing the carrier gets is defensive. Tough Egg is a Common-rarity talent that grants +10% damage reduction while you are twined with an Egg. It comes in two ranks, Tough Egg I and Tough Egg II, and both are listed at that same value.

Extraction means the boat
An egg in your possession is not an egg you have won. Carried eggs must be submitted by interacting with the boat to be evacuated, so the run only ends at the escape point. Everything between the sanctum and the boat is the vulnerable trip, and it is where teams lose eggs they had already earned.
Pathfinders have a second route out. A Pathfinder can extract safely and individually, without waiting for the rest of the team, once one personal objective is complete. That means either personally submitting one Aniimo Egg, or personally collecting a set number of Eggshell Coins.
The coin figure is not published. It was also significantly reduced in the February 4 update, so a solo extract on coins is a more realistic plan now than it used to be.
Submit one Aniimo Egg
- Personally submit a single Aniimo Egg.
- Submission happens by interacting with the boat.
- The requirement is a fixed count of one.
Collect Eggshell Coins
- Personally collect a set number of Eggshell Coins.
- The required amount is not published.
- It was significantly reduced in the February 4 update.
What a death costs
Fainting is not a respawn and a shrug. Dying or fainting during an Egg Heist run costs you your carried items, your backpack, and your equipped gear.
Failing to extract lands in the same place. Dying or failing to extract from Egg Heist causes the loss of carried inventory and unprotected gear. Read that as the real cost of pushing a fight you did not need: you are not only risking the egg, you are risking what you walked in wearing.
Where your eggs actually turn up
Eggs you extract are delivered to your in-game mailbox, and you have to collect them there. They do not appear in your hands at the end of the run. From the mailbox, eggs go into hatchers or home incubators to hatch their rewards.
That is the reason to take the risk at all. Operation Egg Heist offers a broader selection of obtainable egg types than you get elsewhere, including rare Aniimo eggs that rival teams are also trying to extract, and Aniimo forms that cannot be obtained anywhere else in the game.
Where to start
Plan the run backwards from the boat. Decide who carries, keep the carrier surrounded, and take Tough Egg if you expect to be the one who turns into the egg. Then check your mailbox before you go looking for your new egg anywhere else.
