How to farm Sparkling Crystals and exchange them

Sparkling Crystals drop from chests, Super Lucky Strikes and Mass Surges. Learn where to farm them and what the Outpost charges for a Sparkling Cube.

The short version

  1. Sparkling Crystals are worth farming because they buy Sparkling Cubes, and a Sparkling Cube guarantees the capture of a shiny Prismana Aniimo.
  2. Sparkling Crystals drop from open-world chests, from Super Lucky Strikes while you capture wild Aniimo, and from Mass Surges.
  3. Mass Surges are the real farm: you can keep pulling Sparkling Crystals out of one for as long as your Anipods last.
  4. You trade Sparkling Crystals in the item exchange tab of the Outpost vendor.
  5. The Outpost price is not settled. A Sparkling Cube is listed at 100 and at 1,000 Sparkling Crystals (and once at 5), and a Sparkling Anipod at both 100 and 1,000, so check the vendor before you plan around a number.

Sparkling Crystals are the free road to a Sparkling Cube, and a Sparkling Cube is the item that guarantees you catch a shiny Prismana Aniimo. If you want Prismana without paying for it, this is the currency you are farming.

You get them in three places: chests in the open world, Super Lucky Strikes during captures, and Mass Surges. Only one of those is a farm in the proper sense. The other two are things you pick up while doing something else.

The part that trips people up is the exchange. You hand Sparkling Crystals to the Outpost vendor, but how many the vendor wants per Sparkling Cube or Sparkling Anipod is not settled. That is covered below, along with what to do about it.

Why Sparkling Crystals matter: Sparkling Cubes and Prismana

Sparkling Crystals exist to get you Sparkling Cubes. You use them to craft or buy a Sparkling Cube, and a Sparkling Cube guarantees the capture of a shiny Prismana Aniimo. That guarantee is the reason this grind is worth your time.

The other way to a Sparkling Cube is to pay for it outright. A cube costs 1,500 Glimmer or premium currency. Crystals let you skip that bill, which is why turning in Sparkling Crystals at an Outpost vendor counts as the easiest way to get Sparkling Cubes.

Where Sparkling Crystals drop

Three sources hand out Sparkling Crystals.

Chests. Open-world chests award Sparkling Crystals. Legendary chests are the better find, because on top of crystals they can also yield Anipod Megas and held items.

Super Lucky Strikes. When you trigger a Super Lucky Strike while capturing a wild Aniimo, you get bonus credits and Sparkling Crystals. You do not go looking for these; they happen while you catch.

Mass Surges. These also drop Sparkling Crystals, and they are the only source you can sit on and work.

How to farm Sparkling Crystals

Build the farm around Mass Surges. Inside one you can keep collecting Sparkling Crystals for as long as your Anipods last, so the length of your session is set by how many Anipods you bring, not by the Surge. Stock up before you commit to one.

The other two sources stack on top of that without extra effort. Every capture is a chance at a Super Lucky Strike, so a Mass Surge that has you throwing Anipods all session is also giving you more rolls at those bonus crystals. Open any chest you pass on the way, and treat a legendary chest as a priority for the Anipod Megas and held items it can carry as well.

Exchanging Sparkling Crystals at the Outpost

You convert Sparkling Crystals at the Outpost vendor, in the item exchange tab. The vendor stock is the subject of its own guide on this site, covering Joff's outpost shop and the Item Exchange trades, so this section sticks to the crystal side.

The exchange rate is not settled. A Sparkling Cube is listed as costing 100 Sparkling Crystals, which is the figure behind calling crystals the easy route. An NPC trader at the Outpost is also listed as exchanging a Sparkling Cube for 1,000 Sparkling Crystals, and a figure of 5 has appeared as well. The Sparkling Anipod has the same problem: it is given as both 100 and 1,000 Sparkling Crystals.

Where you can buy a Sparkling Cube is just as unsettled. It is listed as sold for Glimmer by Joff under the item exchange menu at outposts, or by the item exchange vendor at the headquarters. It is also listed as not sold by standard outpost shop vendors. In practice, open the item exchange tab rather than the regular shop, and read the price there before you decide how many crystals you need.

Where to start

Farm Mass Surges with a full stock of Anipods, let Super Lucky Strikes and chests top you up, and open every legendary chest you find. Then go to the Outpost vendor's item exchange tab and read the actual price for a Sparkling Cube or Sparkling Anipod before you set a target, because the number is not settled.
