How to unlock the Homeland and visit friends

Wayfarer 20, one objective, and a portal in the back of your RV. Here is what the Homeland gives you and why you want friends walking through it.

The short version

  1. The Homeland system unlocks at Wayfarer level 20, and completing the Home Invitation objective is what switches the feature on.
  2. You enter through a portal at the rear of the RV, after you have registered at the park board.
  3. Inside, you can plant crops, build decorations and arrange the space into custom habitats for your Aniimo.
  4. You can construct additional egg incubators at your homestead on top of the Hatchinator already there.
  5. Visiting players who till or harvest your soil take home a portion of that farm's harvest, and they can speed up egg hatch times while they are in your base.
  6. Visiting a friend's Home is one of the activities that raises per-friend Affinity, and higher Affinity widens the range of Aniimo you can trade with them.

The Homeland is your own plot of land in Aniimo: a private space you can farm, decorate and fill with the creatures you have caught. It is not something you stumble into early. You need Wayfarer level 20, the player level, before the system is available to you at all.

Once it opens, it stops being a decoration and starts being infrastructure. Crops grow there. Eggs hatch there. Friends can walk in and work your soil, and you can walk into theirs.

This guide covers what unlocks it, how you actually walk through the door, what the space does for you, and what happens when other players show up.

Reaching Wayfarer 20 and clearing Home Invitation

Two things gate the Homeland. The first is Wayfarer level 20. That is your player level, not a creature's, so nothing you do with your team shortcuts it. The second is the Home Invitation objective. Completing it is what unlocks the Homeland feature.

After that, getting in is a short walk rather than a menu. Player housing is entered through a portal at the rear of the RV, and the portal is available once you have registered at the park board. The RV and its parks are their own subject with their own guide; for the purposes of getting home, the park board is a step you complete and then forget about.

Wayfarer level needed for the Homeland

The Homeland system unlocks at Wayfarer level 20, so there is no route in before your player level reaches it.

What you can actually build in there

The Homeland is a private domain. You plant crops, you build decorations, and you arrange the space freely into custom habitats for the Aniimo you have caught. That last part is the one players underrate. The space is not just a garden with a house on it. It is somewhere your collection lives.

Furniture and decorations do the personalising, including Aniimo-themed decorative pieces, which turn an empty plot into somewhere that looks like yours. Some interactive furniture is not confined to the plot either. Certain interactive items can be placed and used directly in the open world, so a piece you buy for the house can come out with you.

The furniture itself comes from the Homeland Shop, and its unlock condition is not settled. It is given both as access arriving the moment the Homeland itself unlocks, and as the shop opening once the RV reaches level 4. If the shop is not open for you the instant you step through the portal, that is the likely reason, and RV level 4 is the thing to work towards.

Hatching eggs at your own base

Eggs hatch in an incubator called a Hatchinator. You will find one in the outpost town, at camp, in the main city, and at your homeland base. Egg incubation has its own guide and the details live there.

What matters for the Homeland specifically is that you are not limited to the one you are given. You can construct additional egg incubators at your homestead, which means the plot becomes your hatching hub rather than somewhere you visit between trips to town. Eggs picked up from Egg Heist go into hatchers or home incubators the same way. More incubators at home means more eggs in progress at once.

Why you want other players in your garden

Visiting is not a social nicety here. It pays both sides. A visiting player can till or harvest soil at another player's home, and doing so grants them a portion of that player's crop harvest. Tilling soil or assisting on someone's farm is rewarded out of that farm's yield, so there is a concrete reason to go and work a friend's plot rather than just look at it.

Visitors help with eggs too. A player inside your base can help accelerate hatch times, which is worth remembering if you have just built out a row of incubators and would rather not wait on all of them.

The longer game is Affinity. You build a per-friend Affinity level that rises through ordinary play together: chatting, meeting up in the world, teaming up and fighting alongside each other, trading Aniimo, giving gifts, and visiting a friend's Home. Higher Affinity widens the range of Aniimo that can be traded between you. So the friend whose crops you keep harvesting is also the friend you will eventually be able to trade the most interesting creatures with.

Where to start

Push to Wayfarer 20, clear Home Invitation, register at the park board and take the portal at the back of the RV. Then build incubators before you build decorations, and start visiting the friends you intend to trade with, because the visits are what raise Affinity and Affinity is what opens up the trades.
