Egg hatch times and how to speed up incubation

Golden eggs take 5 hours to hatch. Caress, visiting friends, acceleration events and the monthly pass all cut that, and the clock keeps running while you are offline.

The short version

  1. Golden eggs take 5 hours to incubate. Purple eggs take less, but the exact time is not settled: it is given as both a flat 3 hours and a range of 2 to 3 hours.
  2. Each Caress on an egg in the Hatchinator takes 10 minutes off its remaining time, and the Hatchinator shows a 20/20 counter for how many Caresses are allowed.
  3. Friends who visit your Homeland can Caress your eggs for you, so other players can speed up hatching in your base.
  4. Acceleration events turn up now and then during the season, usually last 2 days, can make certain eggs hatch instantly, and double hatching speed on weekends.
  5. Incubation keeps counting down while you are offline or out questing, so a hatcher should never sit empty.

If you want to hatch eggs in Aniimo, you mostly need to know two things: how long the egg takes, and what you can do to shorten it. Golden eggs are the slow ones. Purple eggs are quicker. Every speed-up in the game takes time off one of those two timers.

There are more speed-ups than you might expect. Some are free and small, like a Caress. Some depend on other people, like friends visiting your Homeland. Some depend on the calendar, like acceleration events. One costs money. Underneath all of them is the simplest rule of all: the timer runs whether or not you are playing.

How long golden and purple eggs take to hatch

A golden egg needs 5 hours of incubation. That is the fixed number to plan around, and it makes golden eggs the ones worth spending your speed-ups on.

Purple eggs are faster, but their exact time is not settled. The game's purple egg timer is given both as a flat 3 hours and as a range of 2 to 3 hours. Either way, a purple egg finishes well inside the time a golden one takes, so treat 3 hours as the most you will wait.

5 hours

Golden egg incubation

Golden eggs need the longest wait here, so start them before you log off and keep them in a hatcher.

Caress: ten minutes at a time

The basic speed-up is the Caress interaction in the Hatchinator. Petting an egg takes 10 minutes off its incubation timer, and placing an egg into an incubator does the same.

The Caress has a cap. The Hatchinator's interactive area shows a 20/20 counter, and that is your allowance. The allowance refreshes daily, though the exact time it resets is not confirmed. In practice, use your Caresses when you have eggs in, rather than saving them, since the counter does not reward you for holding back.

Ten minutes off a 5 hour golden egg is a small dent on its own. Caress is useful because it adds up, and because you are not the only one who can do it.

Caress uses per egg cap

Each Caress takes 10 minutes off the timer, and the Hatchinator shows the allowance as a 20/20 counter.

Friends visiting your Homeland

Other players can help hatch eggs in your base. When friends visit your Homeland, they can Caress an egg in your Hatchinator, and each Caress takes 10 minutes off its remaining time, up to the maximum limit.

That makes a friends list worth having for hatching alone. Inviting people over while you have a golden egg incubating means the 10 minute cuts come from their visits rather than only your own taps.

Acceleration events and double-speed weekends

The biggest free speed-ups come from events. Acceleration events that shorten hatching time appear sporadically through the season and typically last 2 days. While one is active, incubation times drop, and certain eggs hatch instantly.

Hatching events also speed up incubation on a schedule you can plan around: hatching speed is doubled on weekends. If you have a stack of golden eggs waiting, a weekend during a hatching event is the time to put them in.

Because acceleration events arrive without much of a pattern, it pays to keep eggs in hand rather than hatching everything the moment you get it. When an event lands, you want something to put into it.

The monthly pass and paying to hatch faster

Egg hatching can be sped up with real money. The clearest example is the monthly pass, which cuts hatch time by two hours.

On a golden egg, two hours is a large share of the wait, much more than a single day of Caresses from you alone. Whether that is worth paying for depends on how many golden eggs you hatch, but it is the only speed-up that does not depend on friends, events or how often you tap the Hatchinator.

Timers keep running offline, so keep hatchers full

Incubation does not pause when you stop playing. Egg timers keep counting down while you are logged out or offline, and they keep going while you explore and quest.

That makes the most important habit also the easiest one: never leave a hatcher empty. An empty hatcher overnight is a 5 hour golden egg you could have finished while asleep. Put an egg in before you log off, put one in before you head out on a quest, and let the free time do the work that Caress, friends and events only add to.

Where to start

Keep every hatcher full, especially before you log off. Use your Caresses and invite friends to your Homeland. Save golden eggs for acceleration events and double-speed weekends. Only pay for the monthly pass if you hatch enough golden eggs that two hours off each one matters to you.
