Ignitis: Dark Soul, Battle Lust and Wisptis evolution
Kill with Dark Soul and you get a free recast. Battle Lust adds 25% damage per kill. Catch two Wisptis and you can have both Ignitis and Fulmintis.
The short version
- Dark Soul teleports Ignitis to its target before it strikes, and a kill with it gives you a free recast for a limited time.
- Battle Lust (also called Battle Fervor) gives a stack for each enemy Ignitis defeats. Each stack adds 25% damage, it holds up to two stacks, and they last 20 seconds.
- Ignitis is the best Dark DPS for crowds, because both its skill and its passive pay out on kills.
- As an Alpha boss, Ignitis hits very hard. Its opening hit can take half your HP.
- Wisptis evolves into either Ignitis or Fulmintis, so you need to catch two Wisptis to own both.
Ignitis is a Dark attacker built around kills. Its attack skill moves it straight onto a target, and every enemy it finishes makes the next one die faster. That is why it is the Dark DPS to pick when you are fighting a group rather than one big target.
This page covers how Dark Soul and Battle Lust work together, what to expect when Ignitis is the Alpha boss you are fighting, and how to get one from Wisptis without giving up its lightning sibling.

Dark Soul: teleport, strike, recast

Dark Soul is Ignitis's Dark-element attack skill, and it is innate to the creature. It moves Ignitis to the target before attacking. In practice it lands behind the target, although the in-game description only promises that it "transports itself to a target and attacks."
The important part comes after the hit. If Dark Soul defeats an enemy, you immediately get a free recast of the skill, but only for a limited time. So when several weak enemies are grouped together, one well-aimed kill can lead straight into the next. Use it on something you know will die and the recast comes to you without any extra cost.
Ignitis's ultimate ability is Dimension Rupture.
Battle Lust and why Ignitis wins crowd fights
Ignitis's passive trait is Battle Lust, which you may also see called Battle Fervor. Every enemy it defeats gives it a stack. Each stack adds 25% extra damage. You can hold up to two stacks, and they last 20 seconds.
Put that next to Dark Soul and the design is clear. A kill gives you a free recast and a damage stack, so the next kill is easier, and that kill gives you both again. Against one large target there is nothing to feed the loop. Against a crowd it keeps running, which is why Ignitis does well against groups and counts as the best Dark DPS for crowds.
The 20 second limit is the catch. Leave too long a gap between fights and the stacks are gone, so stick to targets that are close together.

Fighting Ignitis as an Alpha boss
Ignitis is also an Alpha boss, and the stats that make it good on your team make it dangerous to fight. Its attack is very high, and its opening hit can take half your HP.
Do not treat the start of the fight as a time to feel it out. Come in at full health and plan for that first hit, because one more mistake after it can finish you.
Ignitis evolution from Wisptis

Ignitis evolves from Wisptis. Wisptis spawns in Barrowline Valley, near the cluster bush trees, and also in the Mistwoods area below it.
The evolution branches. A Wisptis becomes either Ignitis or Fulmintis, which is a lightning-type DPS. One Wisptis can only take one path, so catch two and you can have both. Do that while you are in Barrowline Valley and you save yourself a trip back.
Evolution Stones have their own guide on this site. Read that one for how to get them.
Where to start
Catch two Wisptis in Barrowline Valley or Mistwoods so you can evolve one into Ignitis and keep the other for Fulmintis. Use Ignitis against groups. Aim Dark Soul at enemies it can finish, so each kill gives you the free recast and another Battle Lust stack. When you face Ignitis as an Alpha boss, start at full HP, because its opening hit can take half of it.
