Aniimo weather forms: which species, unlocks and moves

Luminelle, Coraliz and Scorchhowl all have storm forms. You can only switch to one you have already caught, and its moves carry over to the rest of the family.

The short version

  1. Luminelle has a Rainstorm form, Coraliz has an exclusive storm variant that appears during rainstorms, and Scorchhowl has a form that appears in the wild during thunderstorm weather.
  2. Some forms appear only in specific weather such as rain or thunderstorms, so you have to be out in that weather to find them.
  3. You can only change an Aniimo into an alternate or weather form if you have already caught that specific variant.
  4. Moves unlocked from a weather variant or alternate form can be equipped onto the standard form of the same Aniimo family.
  5. Regional and environmental forms are not inherently stronger or rarer, but weather variants can come with altered elements, elemental enhancements and skill upgrades.

Not every Aniimo looks the same everywhere. Forms change with geography, with the weather and with quest completion, and there are 19 distinct forms spread across the roster's species.

This page is about the weather side of that: which species have rainstorm and thunderstorm forms, what you have to do before you can switch a creature into one, and whether a storm form is actually worth having in a fight.

Which Aniimo have rainstorm and thunderstorm forms

Scorchhowl
Scorchhowl

Three species have weather forms you can name today. Luminelle has a Rainstorm form. Coraliz has an exclusive storm variant that appears during rainstorms. Scorchhowl has a form that appears in the wild during thunderstorm weather, which is the one to look for if you came here searching for thunderstorm Scorchhowl.

Thunderstorms in general can trigger the appearance of special variant Aniimo, so a storm rolling in is a reason to go out rather than wait it out. The rule underneath all of this is simple: certain forms appear exclusively during specific weather conditions such as rain or thunderstorms. Clear skies will not give you a storm form, however long you search.

Distinct forms across species

Weather variants are only part of a wider set of forms, so a collector hunting every form has more than storm days to plan around.

How forms fit alongside stages and Prismana

Forms are a separate axis from evolution. Most Aniimo are first encountered in their base Lumin stage and can then evolve into the later Gamma and Nova stages. On top of that, a creature can have multiple forms, and some species also have rare variants.

Weather forms are not Prismana variants. The two systems sit side by side, and Prismana has its own guide on this site. Weather is also only one of the things that changes how an Aniimo looks: members of the same family can differ by habitat and environment too, with rainstorm, cloud mist and plateau forms all part of that picture.

Aniimo evolution stages
  1. LuminThe base stage where most Aniimo are first encountered.
  2. GammaThe later stage a Lumin Aniimo can evolve into.
  3. NovaThe final named stage in the evolution line.

Switching to a form you have caught

Luminelle
Luminelle

You cannot simply toggle a creature into its storm look. An Aniimo can only be changed into an alternate or weather form if that specific variant has already been caught.

In practice that means the weather hunt comes first. If you want your Luminelle in its Rainstorm form, you need to have caught a Rainstorm Luminelle. The same goes for Coraliz in a rainstorm and Scorchhowl in a thunderstorm.

Are storm forms stronger, and do they share moves?

Regional and environmental forms are not inherently stronger or rarer. A different look does not, on its own, make a better creature.

Weather-dependent variants are where that gets more interesting. They can feature altered elements, elemental enhancements and skill upgrades, so a storm form can play differently from the standard one even if it is not simply a straight upgrade.

The moves are the part that pays off for the whole family. Moves unlocked from weather variants or alternate forms can be equipped onto standard forms within the same Aniimo family. Catching a storm form is therefore useful even if you never plan to field it, because what it unlocks can go onto the version you already use.

Where to start

When rain or a thunderstorm starts, go looking for Luminelle, Coraliz and Scorchhowl. You need to catch each storm form before you can switch to it. Even if you prefer the standard form, the catch is still worth making, because the moves it unlocks can be equipped across the whole family.
