Best held items: Fission Needle, Ferocious Fang and more
Ferocious Fang is free and fits most attackers; Fission Needle belongs on Stellarys. See which held item each Aniimo wants, and which picks are still unsettled.
The short version
- Ferocious Fang is a free, legendary, general-purpose attack item. You get it with the starter, a golden version comes from the daily login bonus, and it suits attack-oriented DPS Aniimo such as Infergon.
- Fission Needle is the best held item for Stellarys, including its Prismana form, but what it actually does is not settled: it appears both as a 30% boost to basic attack damage amplification and as a 50% chance for each basic attack to deal double damage.
- A held item gives its stats without a contract, but its skill only arrives with an activated exclusive contract, and upgrading the item to its maximum attaches a contract that boosts the signature core skill.
- Pick the right item before you upgrade it. Feeding an upgraded item into another loses about 20% of the upgrade efficiency, so swapping back costs you resources.
- Turbo's best held item is unsettled. The Heritage Amulet, the Lightning Needle and no item at all in a support role are all given as answers, and in the Irisalis team it needs nothing specific.
A held item does two jobs in Aniimo. It adds stats, and with the right contract it changes how a core skill works. The stats come with any item you equip. The skill change is what separates a good pick from the right one, and it is why this guide matches items to specific Aniimo instead of ranking them in one list.
Most of what follows comes down to a few names: Ferocious Fang for attackers, Fission Needle for Stellarys, the Floral Rainbow Feather for Irisalis, and two fleeces for the Aniimo that keep the team alive. A handful of utility items cover cooldowns and ultimate charge. Where the right answer is not settled yet, this page says so rather than picking one for you.
How contracts change Aniimo skills
Equipping and upgrading have their own article on this site, so here is only what matters for choosing. A held item without a contract still grants its stats but not its skill. Equip one with an activated exclusive contract and the skill is added by enhancing the Aniimo's core active skill. Upgrading a held item to its maximum attaches a contract that boosts the signature core skill.
Alphas are the exception worth knowing. An Alpha can equip any held item, including one already linked to another Aniimo, and still keep its enhanced core skill.
The reason to read the rest of this page before spending anything: feeding an already-upgraded held item into another as enhancement material loses about 20% of the upgrade efficiency. Upgrade the wrong item, swap back, and you have paid for the mistake.

Attackers: Ferocious Fang and Fission Needle

Ferocious Fang is the item most players start with, because it is free. It comes with the starter, and a golden version comes from the daily login bonus. It is a legendary, general-purpose held item that increases attack damage, which makes it a safe fit for any attack-oriented DPS Aniimo. Infergon is the named recommendation.
Fission Needle is the specialist. It is the best held item for Stellarys, and that holds for its Prismana form too. What the Needle actually does is not settled. It is given as a 30% increase to basic attack damage amplification, and it is also given as a 50% chance for every basic attack to deal double damage. Both readings point the same way, though: this is a basic attack item, so it belongs on an Aniimo whose damage comes from basic attacks, and Stellarys is that Aniimo.
Irisalis and the Floral Rainbow Feather
The Floral Rainbow Feather is Irisalis's exclusive signature held item, and it is built around her summoned clones. Its core tier 2 effect gives the clones a damage and crit buff that includes 30% damage amplification, so each clone deals 30% more damage. The bonus is also described as applying to Irisalis herself.
The tier-two per-clone bonus stacks up to three times, so the item gets better the more clones she has out. If you are building an Irisalis team, this is the item to upgrade first.

Utility items for cooldowns, ultimates and repeated skills
Three items are less about raw damage and more about how often you get to use a skill.
Spirited Feather grants cooldown reduction once potential regeneration reaches 15 or higher, for a total reduction of 20%. Its named use is Leafy, where it lowers the cooldowns of Leafy's fields.
The Capacitive (also called Capacious) Battery speeds up ultimate charging. It grants a 30% ultimate point regen buff for 10 seconds and refunds 10% of ultimate points when the ultimate is used. It suits an Aniimo whose ultimate does the heavy lifting.
The Echoing Grimoire grants a 5% damage buff stack, but only when the same skill is used consecutively. Break the chain with a different skill and you stop building it, so it rewards an Aniimo that leans on one skill.
Healers and tanks: the two fleeces
Fleece is the recommended held item for Glacia. It boosts Glacia's HP and healing over Shell, which covers both halves of what Glacia does.
Miraculous Fleece is the healer's item, and it increases healing done. How much is not fixed: it is given as 5% at its listed tier and also as a 12% increase to healing power. Either way, it is the pick when an Aniimo's job is keeping the rest of the team up.
Turbo: an unsettled pick

Turbo is the one Aniimo where there is no single right answer yet. The Heritage Amulet is given as suiting it because Turbo's ability scales off HP. The Lightning Needle is also given as the recommended choice. And in a support role, Turbo is said to need no held item at all.
The Irisalis team settles it for one case: there, Turbo needs no specific enhancement or held item. Outside that team, hold off on upgrading anything for Turbo until you know which role you are using it in, since a wrong upgrade is expensive to undo.
Where to start
Equip the free Ferocious Fang on your main attacker now, and save your upgrade materials for items with a clear owner: Fission Needle on Stellarys, the Floral Rainbow Feather on Irisalis, Fleece on Glacia. Leave Turbo's slot for last, because moving upgrades between items costs you about 20% of their efficiency.
