Does Aniimo Have Gacha? Creature Banners Explained
Aniimo has no creature banners. Here is what it has instead, and why the third beta made people ask.
The short version
- No character banners and no pack pulls. Aniimo are discovered and caught in the wild, including legendaries.
- Cosmetics and costumes are bought directly from the in-game shop. No random drops, no rolling for the skin you want.
- The game is free to play with no upfront purchase and no pre-order pack. In-game purchases are optional.
- The third beta did run a gacha, in the Irisalis event, which handed out a legendary Aniimo through limited resources and pity guarantees.
- That event is not how the launched game works. Creatures do not cost real money.
Short answer: no. Aniimo does not put its creatures behind gacha character banners or pack pulls. You find them in the open world and you catch them, and that includes the legendaries.
The question keeps coming up anyway, and the reason is worth knowing rather than dismissing. The third beta really did run a gacha. If that is where you formed your impression of the game, your impression was accurate at the time and is out of date now.
This page covers what the monetisation actually is, what the shop sells, and what happened in that beta event.
Creatures come out of the world, not a banner
Aniimo are distributed by being somewhere in the world for you to go and catch. That is the whole system. There is no banner rotation, no pack to pull, no featured creature of the patch that vanishes in three weeks.
The part people check twice is legendaries, because in most games with a creature roster that is exactly where the paywall goes. Not here. Legendaries are caught in the open world like everything else, without paying real money for the attempt. The catching itself is a skill and gear question rather than a wallet question, and our Aniimo Catching Guide covers the Aniipods and the alpha hunting in detail.
What this changes in practice is planning. A creature you want is a place to go and a thing to get better at, not a date on a calendar and a currency balance you have to protect.
The shop sells the item, not a chance at the item
Cosmetics and costumes are bought directly. You see the thing, you pay for the thing, you own the thing. No random drops sit between you and the outfit you actually wanted.
That sounds obvious until you compare it to the alternative most games in this genre run, where the cosmetic is the prize inside a roll and the price of a specific skin is unknowable in advance. Here the price is the price on the shop entry.
Aniimo is free to play. There is no upfront purchase and no pre-order pack required to download it and start playing. In-game purchases exist and they are optional, which is a meaningful sentence only because the things they sell are cosmetic and directly priced. Nothing in the shop is a lottery ticket for a creature.
What happened in the third beta
The third beta ran an event called Irisalis, and that event awarded a legendary Aniimo through a gacha system, complete with limited resources and pity guarantees. Everything a player recognises as gacha was there: a capped supply of pulls, a counter running toward a guaranteed result, and a legendary at the end of it.
So when someone tells you Aniimo had gacha, they are not making it up. They are describing a beta event, in the past tense, and it is worth saying so plainly rather than arguing with them.
The launched game does not work that way. Creatures, legendaries included, are caught in the wild, and the shop sells cosmetics outright. If you tried the third beta and wrote the game off on the strength of that event, that is the one thing worth rechecking.

Where to start
If you were holding off on Aniimo because you did not want another banner schedule to keep up with, you can stop holding off. Download it, catch things, and buy a costume only if you want the costume.
