Multiplayer Co-op, Trading, and Hub Features
How co-op, trading and Homeland visits work in Aniimo, and what you can still do entirely on your own.

Aniimo has a single-player mode, and the majority of its content can be played entirely solo. Nothing here is a gate you have to pass with a friend on call. Treat multiplayer as a set of shortcuts, force multipliers and a few evolutions you cannot get any other way.
The online side covers cooperative world exploration, trading, boss fights, alpha encounters and PvP, plus a social hub where players meet. Parties support up to four players. You cannot drop into someone's world uninvited; joining another player's game instance requires an invite from that player.
Here is what each piece actually gives you, and where the catches are.
What you get for bringing a friend
Online co-op lets you team up to explore the open world together and take on shared activities. Boss encounters are the obvious draw. World bosses and Alpha Aniimo bosses can be fought cooperatively, and the game includes large bosses that are intended to be fought in groups. There are also challenges built for taking on with other players.
The quieter benefit is catching. Players can assist one another when capturing wild Aniimo during co-op play, so a friend in your session is useful even when you are just filling out a roster.
Co-op Sanctums are the clearest case of two players getting more than one. When one player opens a treasure chest inside a co-op Sanctum, the other player in the session also receives the rewards. Worth knowing before you go hunting for a partner: those Sanctum rewards can be acquired through alternative methods too. Co-op makes them faster, not exclusive.

How the party works in two-player co-op
This is the rule that surprises people. In two-player co-op the four-slot party is shared. Each player brings two Aniimo into battle, and those two are taken from the first two slots of their own roster.
So your team order matters before you join, not after. Whatever sits in slots one and two is what you are fighting with. If your best counter to a boss is parked in slot three, it stays on the bench. Reorder first, then queue up.

Aniimo trading
Trading Aniimo is part of the online package alongside exploration and boss battles. Most of the time it is a convenience.
Sometimes it is not optional. Certain Aniimo require being traded to another player to trigger specific evolutions. If you are working toward a complete roster, plan for at least one trading partner you trust, because those particular evolutions have no solo route.
Visiting someone's Homeland
Homeland visits are the most generous social feature in the game, because the visitor helps without losing anything. A friend visiting your Homeland can Caress an egg in the Hatchinator to reduce its remaining incubation time by 10 minutes. There is a maximum limit on how far that can be pushed, so a steady rotation of visitors beats one friend spamming it.
Visitors can also till or harvest soil at another player's home, and doing so grants them a portion of that player's crop harvest. Helping out pays the helper.
Decorating is social in a different way. Homeland housing and furniture group layouts can be shared with other players using layout codes, so a setup you like can be copied rather than rebuilt by eye.

Operation: Egg Heist
Also called PvP Egg Heist, Diamond Egg Heist or Diamond Egg Stealing, this multiplayer mode was introduced in the third beta and centres on collecting exclusive Aniimo eggs.
Its format is not settled. The mode is given as a competitive race between teams to collect eggs; as a PvP-only variant played in teams of three; as a real-time PvEvP mode in the Lost Isles where three-player teams battle monsters and other players to gather and extract eggs and resources; as an objective-holding match between two teams; as a team-versus-team PvP match pitting up to six three-player teams against each other over a single objective; and as a dedicated PvE-only cooperative mode with no PvP combat. Go in expecting the shape to move.
One thing is firm. The PvE mode of Egg Heist can be played solo, with no partner required, or in co-op as a two-player team with a friend. If PvP is not your thing, that route exists.
Getting connected across platforms
Aniimo supports cross-platform play, so players on platforms such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox can play together. Your friends do not all need the same hardware.
The cost note: online console multiplayer may require a paid platform subscription. Check what your platform asks for before you plan a group session around it.
Beyond structured activities, there is a multiplayer social hub where players can meet. It is the low-effort way to find the trading partner or Sanctum buddy the rest of this page assumes you have.
Where to start
Sort your first two roster slots before any co-op session, line up one reliable trading partner for the trade-locked evolutions, and let friends into your Homeland often. Everything else you can take at your own pace, solo.
