Spending mistakes: event shops, Petals and pigment rerolls

Craft the Legendary Aniipod before you touch the event shop, keep the free currency box ticked, and know which event progress dies on Sunday.

3 min read5 sectionschecked updated

The short version

  1. Some event store items, such as Glimmering Driftshadow, need the Legendary Aniipod crafted before you can buy them, so hold your Petals until it is done.
  2. Lightweave Fragments carry over to later event exchange shops after the banner ends, so there is no reason to dump them in a panic.
  3. The transmogrification menu can untick the free currency toggle by itself, so check it before every confirm or you may spend paid currency.
  4. A sparkling pigment reroll can land on the hue your Aniimo already had, and since version 1.1 that duplicate roll still costs you.
  5. Vein Abundance progress is lost if you do not finish by Sunday, and unused free search attempts in Aniimo Discovery stop building up once you hit the limit.

Most of the ways to waste currency in Aniimo are quiet. Nothing warns you. You press confirm, the number goes down, and you find out later that the thing you wanted was locked behind a step you skipped, or that a toggle changed itself while you were looking elsewhere.

This page collects the traps worth knowing about: the order to do things in around the Legendary Aniipod and the event shop, the menus that can spend paid currency, the event progress that expires, and the selling and offering habits that leave you short later.

Craft the Legendary Aniipod before spending Petals

If you are working towards the legendary items in the event shop, the order matters. Some event store items, such as Glimmering Driftshadow, cannot be bought until you have crafted the Legendary Aniipod. Spend your Petals in the event shop first and you can end up with the Aniipod crafted and nothing left to buy what it unlocked.

So the rule is simple. Craft the Legendary Aniipod, then go shopping.

The good news is that not every event currency is on a timer. Lightweave Fragments do not expire when the banner ends. They carry over and can be used in later event exchange shops, which means you can leave them alone if nothing in the current shop is worth it.

The transmogrification menu is the one to watch. It can automatically uncheck the free currency toggle, and if you do not notice, the next confirm spends paid currency instead. Look at the toggle every time before you commit, not just the first time.

Pigment rerolls are the other quiet drain. Rerolling with sparkling pigment can give you the exact hue your Aniimo already had. After version 1.1, that duplicate roll still consumes resources. You pay full price for no change, so treat each reroll as a gamble rather than a guaranteed step towards a new colour.

Event progress that expires

Vein Abundance events are time-limited and show their end time on screen. If you have not completed one by Sunday, the progress is lost. Partial credit does not carry forward, so either commit to finishing it or do not start spending on it.

Free search attempts in the Aniimo Discovery event refill over time, but they cap out. Unused attempts do not carry over and do not stack beyond the limit, so a full bar that sits untouched is simply wasted refills. Spend them before they hit the ceiling.

The daily photo event has its own catch. Snapping a photo is not enough to complete the objective. You have to interact with the check-in point.

Egg Heist is worth knowing about for a different reason. Its rewards do little for your progression outside the mode, and the loot is mainly valuable for the silver it sells for. Play it for silver, not for upgrades.

Selling and offering without regret

Selling an item's entire stock is a common way to get stuck later. That includes overworld items. Clear out everything and you can find yourself without the materials you need for things like buy orders. Keep a few back.

Selling back an item you have placed or recycled is also a losing trade. You only get part of its purchase cost returned in Bud Tickets, so buy furniture and placeables as if the purchase is final.

Offerings have their own waste. Offering items that do not get you to the next tier wastes resources, and so does offering beyond the unique rank. Check how far you are from the next tier before you hand anything over, and stop once the unique rank is reached.

Where to start

Craft the Legendary Aniipod before you spend Petals, check the free currency toggle on every transmogrification, and only reroll sparkling pigment if you can afford a repeat. Finish Vein Abundance before Sunday, use your Discovery searches before they cap, and never sell your last stack of anything.
