How break efficiency and breaker buffs work in Aniimo
Break drains an enemy's posture until it staggers. This guide covers the three ways to speed that up: traits, skill multipliers and team buffs, and which Aniimo carry each.
The short version
- Break is the combat role built around draining an enemy's posture and break gauge until it is stunned and staggered, which also strips its defences.
- Tubster's Victory Concerto trait raises break efficiency by 40% while Tubster is shielded, so its defensive play feeds straight into breaking.
- Helion's Holy Storm pulls nearby enemies into a spinning storm and carries a 150% break multiplier.
- Turbo and Luminelle raise break efficiency for other team members. Luminelle's Spotlight Moment only helps Lightning-type teammates, and its exact values are not settled yet.
- Budclaw's trait increases its break efficiency when you play it as a tunneller, and Inferlupa's Unbroken Flameruff Spirit gains break efficiency with every ricochet.
Every enemy in Aniimo has a posture meter, also called a break gauge. Empty it and the target is stunned and staggered, and its defences come off with it. Break-role Aniimo exist to empty that meter.
How fast the meter drains comes down to break efficiency, and there are three ways to raise it. Some Aniimo have a trait that raises their own break efficiency under certain conditions. Some have skills with a large break multiplier built in. A few support Aniimo buff break efficiency for the rest of the team.
This guide goes through all three, then lists the other breakers you will run into.
What break is in Aniimo
Break is one of the functional roles Aniimo are sorted into. A break Aniimo focuses on depleting posture and break meters, removing enemy defences and stunning targets. Its job is not raw damage. Its job is to put the enemy in a state where everyone else's damage counts for more.
The full set of roles is not settled. Damage (or DPS), break, heal and support show up every time. The fifth role is listed as tank in one version and as Region or Regen in another. There is also a version of the list that reads DPS, heal, buff, break and debuff. Whichever list you go by, break is on it, and team compositions are built with a breaker in mind.
Traits that raise break efficiency

A trait is always on, but the best break traits only pay out if you play the Aniimo the way it wants to be played.
Tubster is the clearest case. Its Victory Concerto trait increases break efficiency by 40% while it is shielded. Tubster plays defensively already, and that style is part of why it breaks enemies well: staying shielded keeps the bonus running. If Tubster loses its shield, it loses the bonus too.
Budclaw works the same way with a different condition. Its trait raises its BREAK efficiency when you play it as a tunneller, so you get the most out of it by leaning into that style rather than treating it as a generic attacker. Budclaw fills the Break role and is considered a capable Break unit.
Rookey belongs in this group even though no trait figure is attached to it. It combines defensive stat scaling, damage reduction and counter mechanics with strong BREAK potential. Like Tubster, it breaks enemies from a defensive position.

Skills with break multipliers

The second route is a skill whose break output is built into the move itself.
Helion is a melee Holy DPS that also breaks. Its Holy Storm is a spinning storm attack that pulls surrounding enemies toward its centre and carries a 150% break multiplier. Pulling enemies into one spot means the multiplier lands on a group rather than on one target, which is why Helion does both of its jobs at once.
Inferlupa is a dedicated break unit. It specialises in break damage and in depleting enemy break bars. Its Unbroken Flameruff Spirit skill raises BREAK efficiency through repeated ricochets, so the skill gets better the more times it bounces.

Team buffs that speed up the breaker

The third route comes from teammates. These Aniimo do not have to break anything themselves. They make the breaker faster.
Turbo buffs both team damage and break efficiency. That makes it an easy fit next to any breaker, because both halves of the buff get used.
Luminelle's support skill, Spotlight Moment, raises basic attack damage and BREAK efficiency, but only for Lightning-type (also called Electric-type) teammates. The buff lasts 15 seconds. The exact numbers are not settled yet: the basic attack bonus is listed as both 17% and 27%, and the BREAK efficiency bonus as both 10% and 16%. Treat it as a real boost of uncertain size. The Lightning restriction is part of Aniimo's wider elemental synergy system, which has its own guide on this site. Here the point is simpler: Luminelle only speeds up a breaker who is Lightning-type.
Other break Aniimo on the roster

Plenty of Aniimo fill the break role without a break efficiency trait or buff attached to them. They are worth knowing when you put a team together.
Blazen is a Breaker-class Aniimo using Lightning and Dark, which makes it one of the breakers Luminelle's Spotlight Moment can reach. Blazen is a breaker-type Aniimo that specialises in breaking enemy shields. Pan Panta is a Water-element Breaker. Magmarex breaks with area-of-effect potential, so it suits fights against groups. Geoclaw is an Ice-element BREAK Aniimo that applies [Ice Debuff] stacks to enemies very consistently.
Where to start
Pick your breaker first, then build for its condition. Keep Tubster shielded and play Budclaw as a tunneller. Put Helion where Holy Storm can catch a crowd. Bring Turbo for a buff every breaker can use, and bring Luminelle only if your breaker is Lightning-type, such as Blazen.
