How Dark and Light elements work in Aniimo
Dark has a full support stack behind it and three types to punish. Light has neither. Here is how the two elements actually play.

The short version
- Dark attacks are super-effective against Fire, Grass and Light.
- Water and Wind resist Dark, taking 0.625× damage.
- Dark and Grass is one of the game's ten unresisted dual-type combinations, and Witchin has exactly that typing.
- Dreaple, Fragrancier and Witchin give Dark teams resistance shred, a damage buff and EP back.
- Light has no dedicated Support Aniimo, so Lunara carries her own resistance shred.
Dark and Light sit opposite each other on the chart, but they are not mirror images. One of them has a queue of Aniimo whose whole job is making its damage bigger. The other has to do that work itself.
If you are reading up on Aniimo elements before you commit to a team, this is the pair where the support gap matters most. The matchups are only half the story; the skills built around each element decide how a fight actually goes.
Start with what the attacks do, then look at who is standing behind them.
What Dark beats and what shrugs it off
Dark-type attacks deal super-effective damage against three types: Fire, Grass and Light. That is a wide net. It also means a Dark attacker is a clean answer to the Light element, which is worth remembering when you read the Light section below.
On the other side, Water and Wind resist Dark attacks and take 0.625× damage. That is not a wall, but it is a real tax, and it is the reason a Dark carry wants something else in the roster for those fights rather than grinding through them.

Dark works well as half of a dual type
Aniimo has ten unresisted dual-type combinations, and Dark combined with Grass is one of them. Witchin is a dual Dark and Grass type, which puts her squarely on that list.
Dark shows up in other pairings too. The Prismana form of Stellarys is Dark and Ice, and Prismana Grizzbolt is a dual Dark and Earth type. How Prismana forms work is its own subject and has its own guide on this site; the point here is just that Dark is a common second half, so you will meet it attached to several very different kits.

The Aniimo skills that make a Dark team work
This is where Dark pulls ahead. Three separate Aniimo exist to make dark damage land harder, and they do three different jobs.
Dreaple reduces an enemy's resistance to Dark-element damage. That is the debuff half. Fragrancier is the buff half, and it has two layers: the Secret Fragrance mark causes dark-type basic attacks to deal bonus damage to marked targets for a limited duration, and the Fragrance Bomb ultimate grants a teamwide Dark damage boost. So the mark rewards a single attacker chewing on one target, while the ultimate lifts everyone at once.
Witchin covers the third problem, which is running dry. She uses curse mechanics to restore EP for dark attackers, so a Dark carry can keep spending instead of pausing. Curses and the wider Dark combat system are covered in depth elsewhere on the site. What matters for team building is the shape: shred, buff, and resources, all available in the same element.
Light has no support Aniimo of its own
Light-type Aniimo have no dedicated Support Aniimo. There is no Light equivalent of Dreaple or Fragrancier waiting to be unlocked, so the buffs and debuffs a Dark team hands out for free have to come from somewhere else.
In practice they come from the damage dealer. Lunara reduces enemy resistance to Holy-element attacks, which is the element the game also calls Light, so the shred is folded into the carry rather than delegated. Lunara is a ranged holy and magical DPS built for large area attacks and long battles, and those two things fit together: a debuff you apply yourself is worth more the longer the fight runs. Helion and Lunara are both categorized as Holy-element Aniimo, and the choice between them has its own guide here.
Light damage also runs into resistances of its own. The Basic form of Blazen has Light-type resistance. Add the fact that Dark attacks are super-effective into Light, and the element is asking more of you than Dark is.
Dark
- Witchin uses curse mechanics to restore EP for dark attackers.
- Dreaple can reduce an enemy's resistance to Dark element damage.
- Fragrancier's Secret Fragrance mark makes dark basic attacks deal bonus damage to marked targets for a limited duration.
- Fragrancier's Fragrance Bomb ultimate grants a teamwide Dark damage boost.
Light
- Light type Aniimo have no dedicated Support Aniimo.
- Lunara reduces enemy resistance to Holy element attacks, the element also called Light.
- Lunara is a ranged holy and magical DPS built for large area attacks and long battles, not a support.
- Helion and Lunara are both Holy element Aniimo.
Where to start
If you want an element with scaffolding already built, take Dark and pick up Dreaple, Fragrancier and Witchin as you go. If you take Light, plan on Lunara supplying her own resistance shred, because nothing else will.
