How to add friends and team up in Aniimo

Add friends by UID or username, queue Egg Heist and Holo-Battle Interlink with strangers, and speed up a friend's eggs by 10 minutes a pet in their Homeland.

The short version

  1. You can add a friend by typing their UID or their account username, and you can invite friends or players you recently met straight into your party.
  2. Egg Heist and Holo-Battle Interlink both match you with random players, so you don't need a friends list to play either one.
  3. Egg Heist is not PvP right now. Only its PvE mode is playable, solo or as a two-player team, and no date has been announced for PvP.
  4. AI teammates in Holo-Battle Interlink are weak. In the Minespine (Alpha Mines) fight they usually die by the 1:30 mark, so real players are worth finding.
  5. Each friend has their own Affinity level. Playing together, chatting, gifting and visiting their Home raise it, and higher Affinity widens the range of Aniimo you can trade with that friend.

Aniimo is playable alone, but a lot of it works better with company. The friend system is simple, the matchmaking covers the two modes where a team matters most, and friendship has an actual mechanical payoff: who you can trade with and how fast your eggs hatch.

This guide covers how to add people, which modes will find teammates for you, where the PvP question stands for Egg Heist, and what you get from raising Affinity and visiting a friend's Homeland.

Adding friends by UID or username

You can find a player two ways. Enter their UID, or search for their account username. Either one gets you to the same place, so use whichever your friend can give you. A UID is the safer one to swap because there's nothing to misspell.

Once someone is on your list you can invite them to your party and your game session. You can also invite players you encountered recently, which is handy after a good matchmade run. If a stranger carried the fight, you can pull them into your next one without hunting for their name.

You don't need friends online to play the team content. The co-op battle mode supports matchmaking with random players, and so do the two modes people ask about most.

Egg Heist parties can be formed with random players. You can queue alone or as a group.

Holo-Battle Interlink also matches you with random players, and Phase 2 can be completed with a randomly matched party. You don't need a premade team to get through it.

If you don't have a strong, leveled damage dealer yet (for example, something under 3000 CP), you can still pull your weight in a matchmade group. Bring a support or a breaker Aniimo instead. Teams also need someone to break and someone to keep people up, not just damage.

Is Egg Heist PvP in Aniimo?

Not right now. PvP is not available yet. Only the PvE mode of Egg Heist can be played, and no PvP release date has been announced.

Operation: Egg Heist goes by several names: PvP Egg Heist, Diamond Egg Heist, Diamond Egg Theft and Diamond Egg Stealing. It's an end-game multiplayer egg extraction mode that arrived in the third beta. You search for resources and exclusive Aniimo eggs while fighting wild creatures.

The PvE version is the one to plan around. You can play it solo or in co-op as a two-player team, and you can matchmake alone or as a group. It can be completed solo on both normal and hard mode, so a partner makes it more comfortable but isn't required. Friends can form a team and join an Egg Heist party together.

What the PvP format will look like is not settled. It has been framed as a competitive PvPvE mode, as teams racing to collect eggs, as a PvP-only variant in teams of three, as a real-time mode in the Lost Isles where three-player teams fight monsters and other players to extract eggs and resources, as an objective-holding match between two teams, as six three-player teams fighting over a single objective, and as a purely cooperative PvE mode with no PvP at all. Whether Aniimo has PvP at all is also unsettled. For now, treat Egg Heist as co-op.

In a team run, teammates can revive you when you go down, including with the Bloom Cluster revive. Team tactics and death penalties have their own guide on this site.

Holo-Battle Interlink is a four-player Battle Interlink mode. Friends can team up to break the boss together, and Pathfinder challenge rematches work the same way.

Whether you can play it solo is not settled. One version has AI filling the open slots, at the cost of lower damage and fewer rewards. The other says you need other players.

Where AI teammates do show up, they struggle. In the Minespine (Alpha Mines) fight they usually die by the 1:30 mark. They also do worse against Alpha Scorch than against Alpha Luminel. If you're stuck on one of those two, filling the party with people, friends or matchmade, is the fix.

1:30

When AI teammates usually die against Minespine

In the Minespine (Alpha Mines) Holo Interlink fight, AI teammates usually die by the 1:30 mark, so real teammates carry the fight much better.

Raising friend Affinity

Every friend has their own Affinity level, and it rises through ordinary play together. That covers talking and chatting, meeting up in the world, teaming up and fighting side by side, clearing team dungeons, trading Aniimo, giving gifts and visiting each other's Home. Gestures, daily interactions, completing map activities together and defeating elite bosses together also add affinity and intimacy points.

The payoff is trading. Higher Affinity widens the range of Aniimo you can trade with that friend. If you plan to swap rarer creatures with someone, build Affinity with them early.

Gifts cover the days you can't play together. Exchanging them raises affinity and stands in for shared activities, so a friend in a different time zone doesn't fall behind.

Helping in a friend's Homeland

Visiting a friend's Homeland is a way to help them directly, and it counts toward Affinity as well.

The big one is eggs. Petting (Caressing) an egg in the Hatchinator cuts its remaining incubation time by 10 minutes, up to a maximum limit, and visitors can do it as well as the owner. Interacting with an egg in someone else's base makes it hatch faster.

You can also work the garden. Visitors can till the soil and tend or speed up the garden in another player's home. A quick round of a friend's Homeland helps their eggs and their crops, and it raises your Affinity with them while you do it.

10 minutes

Incubation time cut per egg petting

When you visit a friend's Homeland and pet an egg in their Hatchinator, it hatches 10 minutes sooner, up to a maximum limit.

Where to start

Swap UIDs with anyone you play with, and use matchmaking for Egg Heist and Holo-Battle Interlink when nobody is online. Don't rely on AI teammates against Minespine. Visit a friend's Homeland to pet their eggs, and keep gifting on days you don't play, because Affinity decides what you can trade.
