How to Unlock Special and Branching Evolutions
Some Aniimo evolve the moment they hit a level. Others want an Alpha dead, a stone spent, a questline finished, or a trade with another player, and the level bar tells you none of it.

The short version
- Celestis evolves into Stellarys at level 18, but only after an Alpha Stellarys has been defeated and a Night Stone is spent.
- Defeating Alpha bosses unlocks evolutionary paths for specific Aniimo and drops evolution stones; catching one instead hands you an Aniimo that is already evolved.
- Branching lines need you to pick a side: an Aniimo without thumbs-up markers on two stats has to be evolved to set its split specialization.
- Skippy only evolves into Glacie if the Aniimo is female.
- Inferlupa comes from a questline whose stages sit behind daily server resets, so it spans three real-world days.
- Some evolutions trigger only when the Aniimo is traded to another player, and some are unlocked through the Pathfinder's character talent tree.
Evolution in Aniimo is mostly the thing you expect. You level a creature, you spend the resources it asks for, it changes. That part is covered elsewhere on this site and you do not need it repeated here.
This page is about the evolutions that do not work like that. Certain Aniimo need conditions or progression milestones on top of the level, and the requirements are spread across systems that have nothing obviously to do with each other: world bosses, the material menu, a quest timer, the trade screen, and your own character's talent tree.
The useful thing to know up front is that these gates are checked, not hinted. An Aniimo sitting at the right level with the right stone can still refuse to evolve because something else on the list is unticked.
Celestis evolution: level 18 is the easy part
Celestis evolves into Stellarys at level 18. That is the number everyone looks up, and on its own it will not get you there.
The full requirement is a checklist. The Celestis has to reach Aniimo level 18. An Alpha Stellarys has to have been defeated, which is what unlocks the evolution in the first place. And a Night Stone has to be spent when you actually perform it. Evolving Celestis requires Night Stones, so if you have the level and the Alpha kill and nothing happens, the stone is what you are missing.
Treat the order as a plan rather than a surprise. Start looking for the Alpha and the stone while the Celestis is still levelling, because the level is the only one of the three that arrives on its own.

Alpha bosses open paths, and catching one skips the path entirely
Alpha Aniimo are the hinge for a lot of this. Defeating an Alpha boss yields loot and unlocks evolutionary paths for specific Aniimo, and Alphas drop evolution stones along with other resources evolutions require. So one fight can hand you both halves of a requirement: the unlock and the material to use it.
There is a second option that changes the maths. Catching an Alpha boss grants an already-evolved Aniimo, with no evolution step needed. You skip the level grind, the stone and the unlock in one go.
Which you want depends on what you are after. Defeating the Alpha opens the path for a creature you have raised yourself. Catching it gives you the evolved form directly, and leaves the raising for another day.
Defeat the Alpha
- Yields loot and unlocks evolutionary paths for specific Aniimo.
- Drops evolution stones and other required resources.
- You then evolve your own Aniimo using those resources.
Catch the Alpha
- Grants an already evolved Aniimo.
- No evolving step is needed afterwards.
Split evolutions and the two stats without thumbs-up markers
Aniimo evolution includes branching paths, and a branch has to be resolved by you rather than by the game.
The tell is on the stat display. An Aniimo that is missing thumbs-up markers on two of its stats has not had its split evolution specialization set. Evolving it is how you specify which side of the split it takes.
Not every extra condition is about the branch, either. Skippy evolves into Glacie, and that evolution requires the Aniimo to be female. A male Skippy at any level is not on that line, so check the creature you are investing in before you invest in it.
Questlines, trading and the Pathfinder talent tree
Three of the gates have nothing to do with the Aniimo's own stats at all.
Inferlupa is obtained by evolution, and that evolution requires completing a questline that spans three real-world days. The mission stages are gated behind daily server resets, so there is no way to compress it. Log in, clear the stage that is available, come back tomorrow. Starting it early is the only thing that speeds it up.
Certain Aniimo require being traded to another player to trigger their evolution. That means you need someone you trust to trade it back, and it means the evolution is not something you can finish alone.
Finally, certain evolutions are unlocked through the Pathfinder's character talent tree, also called the Pathfinder skill tree. This one catches people out because it is a prerequisite on your character, not on the creature. If an evolution looks unavailable for no reason you can find, the talent tree is worth a look.

Working out where a material comes from
Evolving an Aniimo requires specific resources, and the game will tell you where they are if you ask it. Selecting an evolution material in the menu shows which Aniimo drop it and how to obtain it. Use that before you go hunting, because the answer is often an Alpha you have already met.
If you bought the Advanced pack, its companion handbook includes evolution materials for the Aniimo family bundled with it. That covers those creatures and nothing else, so the material menu is still where the rest of your answers live.
Where to start
Before you commit to raising something, check all four kinds of gate: the level, the Alpha unlock, the material, and anything outside the creature like a quest, a trade or a Pathfinder talent. For Celestis that means level 18, a defeated Alpha Stellarys and a Night Stone in hand.
