Aniimo evolution list: what each species evolves into
Every Aniimo evolution line we can confirm, with its trigger: Flutternym at 21, Helmwhelp at 48, Celestis at 18 plus a boss, and which ones cost a stone.
The short version
- Aniimo do evolve, and the trigger varies by species: a level, an evolution stone, an Alpha boss kill, a side quest, or a mix of these.
- Celestis evolves into Stellarys at level 18, but only after you defeat an Alpha Stellarys, and the evolution spends a Night Stone.
- Helmwhelp needs level 48 to become Infergon, the flying dragon at the end of a three-stage line that starts with Jawling.
- Flameruff becomes Inferlupa with a Night Stone, and one Flux Crystal can stand in for that stone.
- Evolution stones such as Wave, Gust and Roar Stones come from Alpha bosses, and your first win against an Alpha boss guarantees a set of them.
Yes, Aniimo evolve, and no, it is not always just a matter of levelling up. Some species evolve at a set level. Others want an evolution stone, a defeated boss, a finished side quest, or a combination of these, and a few have conditions that have nothing to do with combat at all.
This page goes species by species. For each line it gives what the creature evolves into and whatever the evolution needs, where that is known. If a line has no requirement listed here, that is because none is confirmed, not because there isn't one.
How to evolve in Aniimo
Evolution requirements come in a few flavours. The simplest is a level. Many evolutions also cost materials, usually an evolution stone, and some will not let you spend those materials at all until a separate condition is met first. Some evolutions only unlock after a side quest. Where a species can branch, each branch has its own unlock requirement, so finishing one does not open the other.
The branching and special cases have their own guide on this site, as does farming the Alpha bosses that supply most stones. This page sticks to the list.
Evolutions that unlock at a level
Flutternym evolves into Gracewing. The evolution unlocks at level 21.
Helmwhelp evolves into Infergon, a flying dragon Aniimo, once it reaches level 48. Infergon is the final stage of a three-stage line whose base form is Jawling, so the only way to get one is to raise that line. That is a long climb, and level 48 is the highest requirement on this list.

Evolutions that need a stone or a boss

Celestis is the Lumin-stage form of its line and evolves into Stellarys, its Nova-stage form. It needs three things: Celestis at level 18, an Alpha Stellarys defeated to unlock the evolution, and a Night Stone, which the evolution spends. Hitting level 18 on its own does nothing until the boss is down.
Flameruff evolves into Inferlupa using a Night Stone. If you are short of Night Stones, one Flux Crystal can substitute for it.
Popota evolves into Piopiota, and that evolution requires a Wave Stone.
Sherro and Sheldon both need you to defeat Omega Sherro before either can evolve. Plan the fight before you plan the evolution.

Evolutions with unusual conditions

Skippy evolves into Glacy, but only if your Skippy is female. A male one will not make the jump, so check before you invest in it.
Budclaw is the open question. It is given as evolving into both Shrubclaw and Geoclaw, and which of these you get, and how, is not settled yet. Treat any Budclaw plan as provisional.
Other confirmed evolution lines

These lines are confirmed, but no specific requirement for them is.
Sparki evolves into Flamerion. Bolty evolves into Blazen, and Blazen can also be caught directly, so you can skip the line if you find one in the wild. Budsquire evolves into Thornblade.
Hexon comes from Hummin. Because Hummin is common, Hexon is one of the easier evolved forms to get early in the game.
Fulmintis works the other way round from Blazen. It cannot currently be encountered or captured in the wild, so you have to catch its pre-evolution and evolve it yourself.
Where evolution stones come from
Most of the stones above come from Alpha Aniimo. Certain Alpha bosses drop materials specific to that boss, evolution stones among them, and beating an Alpha boss for the first time grants a guaranteed set of evolution stones. Wave Stones, Gust Stones and Roar Stones all come from defeating Alpha Aniimo, and Alpha challenges in general reward evolution materials.
That makes Alpha bosses doubly important for a line like Celestis, where the boss is both the unlock and a source of stones.
Where to start
Look up the species you are raising before you grind it. If it needs a boss or a stone, start on the Alpha fights early, since your first win against each boss guarantees a set of evolution stones. Check your Skippy is female, and hold off on firm Budclaw plans until its branches are settled.
