Night-only Aniimo and how to change the time of day
Sparki, Wisptis and Alpha Luminelle never appear in daylight, and the Inferlupa quest stalls until it is dark. Here is what to hunt at night.

The short version
- Sparki and Wisptis only spawn at night, so you will not find either one during the day however long you search.
- Alpha Luminelle spawns only at night in the far south, and it arrives after a shooting star lands.
- Susuta spawns at night, and that is when its Nighttime Form, along with Popota's, can be encountered.
- The Inferlupa quest needs the time switched to night before the Emberpup pack appears and the dialogue can continue.
- Fenrier is a daytime spawn in Beastfang Ridge, so catch it before you switch the clock over.
Idyll has a day/night cycle, and it changes which wild Aniimo spawn. Some only turn up after dark. Certain species also have a distinct Nighttime Form that you only get to see once the sun is down.
If a creature you are hunting refuses to appear, night is one of the usual reasons, and changing the time of day is how you trigger the missing spawns. The wider list of reasons an Aniimo won't spawn has its own article on this site. This page sticks to the dark: which Aniimo come out at night, which ones change, and when you need the clock set to night to make progress.
Aniimo that only spawn at night
Start with the ones you cannot get any other way. Sparki only spawns at night. So does Wisptis. If either is on your list, there is no point sweeping an area in daylight; switch to night first and then go looking.
Alpha Luminelle is the most specific of the group. It spawns only at night, only in the far south, and it arrives after a shooting star lands. That means being in the right region after dark is not quite enough on its own. You are waiting for the star, and the Alpha follows it.
This is the general pattern for dark Aniimo: certain regional species appear exclusively at night, so a region you have already cleared by day can still be holding something back.
Nighttime forms: Susuta and Popota
Night does not just add new creatures. It also changes some familiar ones. Certain species have a distinct Nighttime Form, and the clearest case is Susuta.
Susuta spawns at night, and that is what lets you encounter its Nighttime Form, along with Popota's. If you have only ever met these two in daylight, you have not seen everything they have. Treat the night version as its own target and plan a separate trip for it.

Switching the clock to night
Changing the time of day is what triggers spawns that are missing. If a night-only Aniimo is the thing you are after, you do not have to sit through the day waiting for dusk. Switch the time and the night spawns come in.
The same trick matters for quests, not just catching. The Inferlupa quest requires you to switch the time to night. Until you do, the Emberpup pack does not appear, and the dialogue cannot continue. If that quest seems stuck with nobody to talk to, it is waiting on darkness rather than on anything you have missed.
Planning a day run and a night run
Because some spawns depend on the hour, it pays to split your hunting. Do the daytime list first, then switch to night and work through the dark one.
Fenrier is a good example of why the order matters. It spawns in Beastfang Ridge around Frigid Waters and the Bloom during the day, and it also spawns in Drift Side Meadow. Flip the clock to night too early and you have traded it for a different set of creatures. Catch it, then change the time and go after Sparki, Wisptis, the night forms of Susuta and Popota, and, if you are in the far south, a falling star with Alpha Luminelle behind it.
Where to start
If an Aniimo or a quest step won't show up, switch the time to night and look again. Do your daytime catches like Fenrier first, then use the night for Sparki, Wisptis, the Susuta and Popota night forms, the Emberpup pack and Alpha Luminelle in the far south.
