Why an Aniimo won't spawn: unlocks, night and events
Sparki waits for night, Luminel for a thunderstorm, Flamerion for a Sparki catch. Here is each condition that keeps a species missing, and how to meet it.

The short version
- A missing Aniimo usually has a condition attached: a time of day, a weather type, something you have to catch or do first, or a stage of progression.
- Sparki only spawns at night, and changing the time of day is the standard fix when a regional species seems to be missing.
- Flamerion only appears in Mistwood after you catch Forest Form Sparkies there, and the Pomawk/Pomegg spawn unlocks once you transform into a Pomeg and join the three dancing Pomegg.
- Electric-type Aniimo are unavailable for a long stretch of early progression and become obtainable around the level 40 area.
- Some Aniimo never spawn in the wild at all and come only from mysterious eggs earned from activities, or from a story mission encounter, as with Melloblum.
When an Aniimo won't spawn, the game is rarely broken. Most species are tied to something: a habitat, a time of day, a weather type, a creature you have to catch first, or how far into the game you are. Until you meet that condition, you can stand in the right zone all day and see nothing.
This page sorts the conditions by type. Night and weather come first because they cover the most cases. After that come the spawns you unlock by doing something, the ones locked behind progression or eggs, the forms tied to a place, and the spawns that only happen at random or on certain days.
What decides whether an Aniimo spawns
Every species has designated habitats, and on top of that the environment decides what turns up. That includes the time of day through the day/night cycle, the real-time weather, and limited-time climatic events such as blooms. Certain special species, rare variants and weather forms appear in their zone only under specific weather or at specific times of day.
So the first question for any missing spawn is whether you are in the right place under the right conditions. The second is whether the game wants you to do something first. Time and weather get a full treatment in our article on how weather and time of day affect spawns, so the next section covers only the cases you are most likely to hit.
Night-only and weather-only spawns
The day/night cycle in Idyll changes which wild creatures appear. Some Aniimo are only met after dark, and certain species have a distinct Nighttime Form. Sparki is the clearest case: it only spawns at night. If a regional species seems to be missing, changing the time of day is the usual fix, because some of them appear exclusively at night.
Weather works the same way. Some Aniimo only spawn in specific conditions such as rain or thunderstorms. Luminel spawns at Tidal Blossom Coast during thunderstorms, inside a cave. Rainstorm Luminelle appears during rain or thunderstorms at a cave on the edge of Tide Blossom Coast. If you are searching that coastline in clear weather, you are wasting the trip.
Spawns you unlock by catching or doing something
Some species stay hidden until you trigger them. Flamerion spawns in Mistwood only after you catch Forest Form Sparkies in the area. Since Sparki is a night spawn, plan on a night visit to Mistwood before you go looking for Flamerion.
The Pomawk/Pomegg spawn is unlocked by transforming into a Pomeg and joining the three dancing Pomegg. Melloblum can be caught after you meet it during a story mission, so if you have not reached that mission, it will not be there for you.
Golden Helmite has its own trigger. Approach a guarding Helmite while cloaked and it becomes a golden Helmite. Capture that one and more golden Helmite spawn at set locations in the area, so the first catch opens up the rest. The golden Helmwhelp is a fixed find instead: it sits on a high platform above the stone pillar forest near the Jawlings in the Crimson Highlands. You reach it by climbing toward a chest above the pillars. The climbing itself is covered in our guide to overworld obstacles and puzzles.
Species locked behind progression or eggs
Some gates are about how far you have got. Electric-type Aniimo are unavailable for a long stretch of early progression and become obtainable around the level 40 area. If you are hunting one early, the answer is to keep playing, not to keep searching.
Other species go the other way. Hexon is easy to get early because it comes from the common Hummin.
Wild Aniimo levels are their own question, and it is not settled. One rule gives the level as your World Level, which also affects how hard the creature is. The other gives it as your account level at the time of capture.
Then there are Aniimo that never spawn in the wild. Certain species can only be obtained by finding and hatching mysterious eggs earned from activities. If you have searched every habitat and found nothing, check whether the species is egg-only before you search any longer.

Forms tied to a place
A species you already own can still have a form you have never seen, and some forms depend on where you evolve. Tuckin's mountain form is obtained by evolving it in Berylline Vale, at a mud pit you reach by flying to Mudstone Pass. Evolve it anywhere else and you will not get that form.
Tokkan also has two forms, a green form and a brown mountain form. Hummin exists in two distinct forms as well. Add the Nighttime Forms from the day/night cycle, and a missing form is often a matter of place or time rather than luck.
Random rolls, blooms and weekend events
Some spawns you cannot force at all. Umbral Aniimo (also called Umbra Aniimo) and Radiant variants spawn naturally, at random and at a low rate, while you roam the open world, and you can catch them when you find them. Evolved and fully evolved creatures can be met directly in the wild in Umbral form, so you do not have to evolve one yourself to own it.
Blooms add another random element. Nurture a bloom without an offering and it spawns an Aniimo picked at random from that bloom's regional pool.
Events work on the calendar instead. Budsquire spawns continuously and in unlimited numbers during the weekend event, from Friday through Sunday. If you need a lot of them, wait for the weekend.
Where to start
When an Aniimo won't spawn, check the conditions in order. First the time of day and the weather. Then whether something has to be caught or done first, as with Flamerion, Pomegg and golden Helmite. Then whether you are far enough in, which matters for Electric types around the level 40 area. Last, whether the species comes only from mysterious eggs. Only once all of those are ruled out is it down to the low random rate.
