What does Budsquire evolve into?

If Budsquire branches, Thornblade and Melloblum are two separate forms, and Thornblade is the one more firmly tied to it. Thornblade is listed as its evolution more consistently. Melloblum is also given as a form you get by evolving Budsquire, but nothing pins down whether the two are a split or competing descriptions of the same step.

Branching lines in Aniimo are real and common enough that a split here would not be unusual. Chirpi goes to either Tromber or Tubster, and Wisptis goes to either Ignitis or Fulmintis. Where a line does branch, each branch has its own unlock requirements, set by quest decisions and items collected, and the evolved forms differ in abilities, skills and combat role. They can also gain a new element.

## What to do with your Budsquire until it is settled

Keep spares. Auto-releasing catches without reviewing them can throw away Aniimo you need for split evolutions, and if Budsquire does branch, a second one is what lets you see the other form. An Aniimo without thumbs-up markers on two stats has to be evolved to specify its split evolution specialization, so check the stat markers on a Budsquire before you decide which one to evolve.

Budclaw has the same problem: it is given as evolving into both Shrubclaw and Geoclaw. The full rules for split lines are on the branching evolutions page linked here.

Not settled: Budsquire's evolution is given as both Thornblade and Melloblum. Whether that is a true branch with two outcomes, or one of the two names is wrong, is not settled, and the requirements for either form are not known.
