Ascension and awakening materials in Aniimo

Phenomena Crystals grant six extra potential stats on ascension, and Star Essence unlocks Awaken Potential past 10. Here is which material does what.

The short version

  1. Phenomena Crystals are for ascending high-tier Aniimo, meaning those at higher resonance stages or mind levels, and each ascension grants six additional potential stats.
  2. Omnisource Crystals push an Aniimo's stats past the standard IV maximums in Resonance, and higher tiers of progression require them.
  3. Star Sand raises potential through capability awakening, while Star Essence is needed to take Awaken Potential beyond 10 points up to the 20 cap.
  4. An Aniimo with higher innate potential needs less Astranite in total to max out a stat, so the starting roll matters.
  5. Once the daily free bloom nurture attempts run out, each extra attempt costs essence, and Vein Essence comes from gathering, catch milestones, Elite Training, the battle pass and more.

Aniimo hands you a lot of materials with similar names, and most of them do one narrow job. Some make an Aniimo stronger right now. Some unlock the ceiling so it can get stronger later. Mixing those up is how you end up short of the rare one when it finally matters.

This guide sorts them by what they do: ascension first, then awakening, then evolution and transformation, levelling, nurturing, and cosmetic styles. Where the game has not settled how an item works, that is said plainly.

Ascension: Phenomena Crystals and Omnisource Crystals

Phenomena Crystals are used in training to ascend high-tier Aniimo. High-tier here means Aniimo at higher resonance stages or mind levels, so these are not something you spend on a fresh catch.

The payoff is real. When an Aniimo ascends, Phenomena Crystals raise its overall strength by granting six additional potential stats. That is why they belong on the team you actually intend to keep.

Omnisource Crystals work alongside that ceiling. They are used in Resonance to raise an Aniimo's stats beyond the standard IV maximums, and higher tiers of Aniimo progression require them. If you plan to push a favourite all the way, treat Omnisource Crystals as a gate, not a bonus.

Capability awakening: Star Sand, Star Essence and potential

Capability awakening is where an Aniimo's potential goes up. Star Sand is used for it, raising potential directly.

Star Essence is less clear cut. Its use is not settled: it is described both as something consumed to level up an Aniimo and as a capability awakening material. In the awakening role it raises potential and is required to upgrade Awaken Potential beyond 10 points up to the 20 cap. Either way, hold on to it until you know which Aniimo deserve the upper half of that range.

Potential also shapes your costs elsewhere. An Aniimo's innate potential value scales its enhancement costs, and a higher starting potential lowers the total Astranite needed to max out a stat. The catch is simple: two copies of the same species are not equally cheap to build, and the one with the better starting roll saves you Astranite.

Resonance, evolution and Prismana forms

Breezy Plains Dewdrops are used to resonate Aniimo and boost their combat strength.

Evolution uses elemental stones. Wave Stones, for example, are progression stones used to evolve Water Aniimo.

Flux Crystals are a currency from Sanctum chests and other reward sources, and exactly how they are used is not settled yet. They are described as evolution stones that stand in for missing elemental stones or evolution materials during resonance star-up, as a universal elemental resource that satisfies varying elemental material requirements, and as something you can exchange for other items. What all three have in common is flexibility, so they are best kept for the moment you are missing a specific element rather than spent early.

Prismana Orbs are a separate path entirely. They transform an Aniimo from its basic form into its Prismana form.

Levelling and wider progression

Growth Buds are the straightforward one. They are consumables that grant experience points to level up an Aniimo.

Lumen Amber reaches much further. It directly advances regional and world progression, and it is spent on Pathfinder upgrades, creature progression, equipment, Homeland development, world activities, and upgrading the Branch in Idol. Because so many systems draw on it, it is rarely wise to pour it all into one.

Two other items are worth knowing. The yield of Legendary Stardust from drops and rewards has been increased. Mutation Marks are acquired by catching and reporting Alpha Aniimo.

Nurturing blooms and Vein Essence

Nurturing bloom plants fills the nurture bar, which lures Aniimo such as Prismana Aniimo at Breezy Plains branches. You get some free attempts each day, and after that it costs you.

The free allotment is not settled. It is given as three attempts daily, as three nurture stones every three days, as one daily use once the feature unlocks, and as three regenerating attempts shared with essence abundance that can reach unique rank. The cost of further attempts is given as both Vein Essence and Prismatic Energy Shards, and one account puts it at one Vane Essence per attempt.

What is consistent is that nurturing blooms or branches consumes Vein Essence once the daily free attempts are exhausted, and Vein Essence replenishes nurture attempts. You can get it from open-world gathering, Elite Training, catch milestones, Nurture Branches, Hollow Battle Interlinks, the battle pass, the stamp shop, and contributing Lumin. Catch milestones are an easy early source: capturing 40% of the species in a region awards a Bronze Capture Medal along with Vein Essence.

Styles: Sparkling Pigment and Sparkling Cubes

Sparkling Pigment changes an Aniimo's style. You can buy it from Geoff at the Outpost under the item exchange menu, and it is stored under the pouch tab in your inventory.

Keep expectations low. Using a sparkling pigment or sigil gives a 99% chance of a common style and a 0.5% chance each for dazzling or shadow styles.

Sparkling Cubes are sold in the shop for Lumen, the game's star currency. The price is not settled: it is given as both 1,680 and 1,500 Lumen.

Chance of a common style

Using a sparkling pigment or sigil leaves only a 0.5% chance each for dazzling or shadow styles.

Where to start

Save Phenomena Crystals, Omnisource Crystals and Star Essence for the Aniimo you mean to keep, and favour copies with high innate potential so your Astranite goes further. Hold Flux Crystals back for when you are missing an elemental material. Keep Vein Essence coming in through catch milestones and gathering so your nurture attempts don't run dry.
