Egg Heist survival tips: weight limit, waves and talents
Carry past 72 kg and you stop moving. Learn when the extra waves spawn, why a ranged slot-one Aniimo wins solo Nightmare, and what a death costs you.
The short version
- Your backpack has a hard weight cap in Egg Heist: go above 72 kg and you are immobilized, and at 73 kg you cannot move at all.
- Extra enemies spawn on the run timer, around the five-minute mark and at roughly 10 and 2 minutes remaining.
- You only control the Aniimo in team slot one, and it is the only one you can twine with, so that slot decides your run.
- Ranged damage dealers have a large advantage, including in solo Nightmare runs, because they can kite melee enemies.
- Dying or failing to extract permanently loses your backpack loot and any unprotected Heist gear; the Egg Boat Safe talent gives you a protected pocket for eggs.
Aniimo Egg Heist runs are short, crowded and unforgiving. Most failed runs come down to a handful of rules: how much you are carrying, when the next wave lands, which Aniimo you brought, and whether you made it out.
This page covers those rules in the order they bite. Weight first, because it can stop you dead. Then the wave timer, your team slot, the talent tree, and finally what a failed extraction takes from you.
The Egg Heist weight limit: stay under 73 kg
Everything you pick up goes into your backpack, and the backpack has a carry weight. Going a little over is not the problem. Going well over is: once you are above 72 kg you are immobilized, and at 73 kg of carried weight you cannot move.
That matters more in Egg Heist than almost anywhere else, because a player who cannot move cannot extract. Treat 72 kg as a ceiling, not a target. If a pickup would take you over it, drop something less valuable first rather than finding out mid escape.

When the enemy waves spawn
The enemies on the map at the start are not all you will face. Additional enemies spawn on the run timer, including around the five-minute mark, with further waves at about 10 minutes and about 2 minutes remaining.
Plan around those beats. The wave near 10 minutes remaining tells you the run is properly under way. The one at about 2 minutes remaining is the dangerous one, because it lands when you are heaviest and closest to leaving. If you are still looting at that point, you are doing it with fresh enemies on top of you.
Slot one and why ranged picks win
In Egg Heist you control the Aniimo in team slot one, and it is the only one you can twine with. Whatever sits in that slot is your whole run, so put your best Egg Heist pick there rather than whatever you happened to leave in front.
That pick should usually deal damage at range. Ranged damage dealers have a large advantage in Egg Heist because they can kite melee enemies: hit, back off, hit again, and never let the crowd close. This holds even in solo Nightmare runs, where you have nobody else to absorb the pressure and kiting is often the difference between extracting and not.
Talents: Essence and the Egg Boat Safe
Egg Heist has its own talent tree. You spend Essence to unlock perks and to upgrade them.
The one to aim for early is the Egg Boat Safe. It unlocks a protected safe pocket for stashing eggs, which directly answers the biggest risk in the mode: losing what you carried. Eggs in the safe pocket are the ones you are not gambling with.
What you lose, and what you keep
If you die or fail to extract, the loot in your backpack is gone for good. So is any Heist gear you brought in that is not covered by protection items. There is no partial refund, which is why the weight cap, the 2 minutes remaining wave and the safe pocket all matter as much as they do.
What you do extract is yours to use. Items and resources from Egg Heist sell for Eggshell Coins, and a bulk sell-all interface saves you clicking through them one at a time. Collectible items go toward a collection display case that can be completed, so check it before you sell something you only have one of.
Die or fail to extract
- Loot carried in the backpack is lost permanently
- Heist gear not covered by protection items is lost
Extract
- Extracted items and resources can be sold for Eggshell Coins
- A bulk sell all interface handles the selling
Where to start
Put a ranged Aniimo in slot one, keep your backpack under 72 kg, and start heading out before the wave at about 2 minutes remaining. Spend your first Essence toward the Egg Boat Safe so a bad run doesn't take your eggs.
