Aniimo Eggs

Guides › About the game

Platforms, Release Date and Access

Aniimo lands on almost everything except a Switch, it costs nothing to start, and it goes live worldwide at a single moment. Here is what you need to know before you try to install it.

The short version

  • Launch is global and simultaneous on September 16th, which reads as September 15th in some time zones.
  • PC players have four routes in: Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store/Xbox PC, and an optional standalone client.
  • Consoles are covered by PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, plus Xbox Cloud Gaming.
  • Mobile is supported on both iOS and Android.
  • No Nintendo Switch version has been announced.
  • The game is free-to-play with optional in-game purchases, and it requires an online connection at all times.
  • Cross-platform co-op is listed for the Xbox version.
  • Cross-progression and account linking are covered in the developer's official launch account FAQ.

Aniimo is a free-to-play game from Pawprint Studio, published by Kingsglory, and it is spread across more storefronts than most launches bother with. That is good news if you already own a machine. It is slightly confusing news when you are trying to work out which version to actually install.

The short version: nearly every platform is covered, the game costs nothing up front, and everyone gets in at the same moment regardless of region. The two things that will decide your install are which storefront you prefer and whether you can accept an always-online game.

There is one gap worth knowing about before you plan around it, and one requirement that is not negotiable. Both are below.

Which machines it runs on

On PC you have four ways in. Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store/Xbox PC all carry it, and there is also an optional dedicated standalone client. The client is optional, so if you would rather keep the game in a launcher library you already use, you can.

On console it is PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Xbox Cloud Gaming is supported too, which means you can play without the hardware sitting under your television.

Mobile covers both iOS and Android. Add that up and the game reaches PC, current-generation consoles, cloud, and phones.

The gap is Nintendo. No Switch version has been announced. If that is the only machine you own, there is nothing to wishlist and nothing to wait for on a confirmed timeline.

One launch moment, everywhere

Aniimo launches globally at the same time across all regions on September 16th. Depending on where you live, that clock reading may land on September 15th for you.

A simultaneous global launch matters more than it sounds. There is no staggered regional rollout to wait out and no early region to envy. Everyone starts together, so work out what September 16th UTC translates to on your own calendar and plan the evening accordingly.

You can wishlist the game now on PC and console storefronts, which is the simplest way to get a nudge when it goes live rather than checking manually.

September 16th

Global launch date, all regions at once

Every region unlocks at the same moment, so the date reads as September 15th in some time zones and you should check your own clock rather than assume a staggered rollout.

Free to start, online to play

There is no upfront purchase. The core gameplay is free, and the game funds itself with optional in-game purchases instead. So the cost of trying it is your download time.

The hard requirement is connectivity. Aniimo needs an online connection to play. There is no offline mode to fall back on, which is worth weighing if you were thinking of it as something to play on a commute or on patchy hotel wifi. On mobile especially, that requirement shapes where and when you can actually get a session in.

On the free side of the ledger, Voxel Coins can be claimed daily at no cost in Astra. That is a routine worth building early, since it rewards showing up rather than spending.

Playing with friends on other platforms

Cross-platform co-op is listed for the Xbox version, so a friend on a different platform is not automatically out of reach.

The related question, whether your progress and account follow you between platforms, is answered in the developer's official launch account FAQ. If you expect to move between, say, a PC at home and a phone elsewhere, read that FAQ before you create your account rather than after. Account decisions are the kind that are awkward to undo.

Where to get real information

Two sources are worth bookmarking. Aniimo.com is the official website, and the official Aniimo Discord is the main outlet for announcements from the development team. If something changes, that is where it surfaces first.

That matters because the game remains actively in development. Anything you read from pre-launch footage describes a build, not a promise, and builds move. Checking the official channels close to launch day costs you nothing and saves you acting on something that has since changed.

Where to start

Pick your storefront now and wishlist it there so you are not hunting on the day. Confirm what September 16th means in your time zone, make sure you will have a connection, and check the launch account FAQ before you make an account if you plan to play on more than one device. Switch owners have nothing announced to wait for.

Questions this answers

Each of these is answered on its own page, with the sources behind it.

Built from 13 facts gathered before launch, each checked against the sources it came from. How we know this, and who we learned it from.
