The short version

  1. Craft the Legendary Aniipod before you spend any Irisalis Petals, because some shop items, Glimmering Driftshadow among them, can't be bought until you have it.
  2. Glimmering Driftshadow costs two Irisalis Petals each in the Walking with Irisalis event store.
  3. Breezy Mission Letters cost Glimmer, not Petals, and you can do them up to five times per week.
  4. The legendary Windchase Departure Anapod takes 49 Iris Petals, and you craft it after the Irisalis Aniipod.
  5. The 'How to obtain' button in the bottom left of the event menu lists every Petal source and where to find it.

Walking with Irisalis has its own currency, Irisalis Petals (also called Iris Petals), and its own shop to spend them in. The shop is not where most of your Petals should go first. Your Petals are first needed for crafting, and the shop locks part of its stock until that crafting is done.

This page covers what the event shop sells, what each item costs in Petals or Glimmer, and the order to spend in so you never come up short. If you want the capture itself, the full walkthrough on how to get Irisalis, the legendary Aniimo, lives in its own guide.

Craft the Legendary Aniipod before you spend Petals

Petals are crafted from the event menu into legendary Aniipods, in a fixed order. The first is the Irisalis Aniipod, also written Iris Solis and shown in the menu as an Irisalis cube. That is the one you use to summon and capture Irisalis. After it, more Petals go into the second pod, Wind Chaser's Departure, which the crafting screen calls the Windchase Departure Anapod. That one costs 49 Iris Petals.

The reason to do this first is simple. Some event store items, Glimmering Driftshadow included, cannot be bought until the Legendary Aniipod has been crafted. Spend your Petals in the shop early and you have fewer for the pod, and the items you were probably after are still locked anyway. Craft first, shop second.

Iris Petals to craft Windchase Departure

Crafting the legendary Aniipod unlocks some event store items, so Petals spent in the shop first slow down this craft.

What the event shop sells and what it costs

Glimmering Driftshadow is the headline Petal purchase. The Walking with Irisalis Legendary Journey store sells it for two Irisalis Petals each, once the Legendary Aniipod unlocks it.

Breezy Mission Letters are the other item worth knowing, and they cost Glimmer rather than Petals. You can do them up to five times per week. That cap is the one they launched with, so plan on a weekly allowance rather than a stockpile.

The stamp shop works on the same weekly rhythm. Its stock is limited, purchases are capped each week, and items such as petals sell out and then restock. If something you want is gone, it is a matter of waiting for the restock rather than missing it for good.

Glimmering Driftshadow is sold in the event store only after the Legendary Aniipod is crafted, so set the Petals aside for the craft first.

Where Irisalis Petals come from

How most Petals reach you is not settled. One picture has them coming mostly from permanent sources: progressing through the event's permanent tab while you play, sometimes at random, plus the main story and journey quests, side stories, exploration including Breezy Plains, silver badges, a gather task for collecting items around the world, first clears of Alpha boss battles, and fighting Irisalis at the Faded Rainbow. Branch Nurturing belongs on that list too: levelling up the Branch Nurture tree by infusing Lumin Amber awards three petals for each Branch Nurture level of the main branch. A weekly-limited source sits alongside all of these. The other picture has Petals coming mainly from the stamp shop and the event shop rather than permanent sources.

You don't have to guess which applies to you. The event menu has a 'How to obtain' button in the bottom left that lists every Irisalis petal source and its location. Check it before you plan a week of farming.

Free players and how the beta did it

You don't need to pay. The Forest of the Butterfly Dreams event, including part of the Irisalis Prismana transmog, can be completed without spending real money. How that transmog's slots and rarity work has its own guide.

That is a change from the closed beta. In the third beta, the Irisalis event awarded its legendary Aniimo through a gacha system with limited resources and pity guarantees. Entering it took Glimmer, and legendary pity was estimated at 4,500 to 6,000 Glimmer. The Petal crafting route described above is how the event works now.

Where to start

Save your Irisalis Petals until the Legendary Aniipod is crafted, then buy Glimmering Driftshadow at two Petals each. Pay for Breezy Mission Letters in Glimmer up to the weekly cap, and use the 'How to obtain' button whenever you need more Petals.
