Capture rewards: Lucky Strike loot, XP and catch quality
A Super Lucky Strike pays around 50 to 60 Sparkling Crystals, and the cheapest Aniipods earn more lucky catches per coin. Here is everything else a capture pays.
The short version
- A Lucky Strike pays bonus credits; a Super Lucky Strike pays bonus credits plus Sparkling Crystals, around 50 to 60 of them.
- Regular Aniipods yield more lucky catches per coin than Pro or Mega pods, and Prismana farming only needs the cheapest ones.
- Every capture grants player XP, and the first capture of a new species in each area pays bonus XP.
- A new catch's Potential grade stays hidden as "Unappraised" until you submit it in a catch report at an Outpost's Research Console.
- Sparkling Crystals are a material; a Sparkling Aniimo is a shiny variant you find in the wild, hatch from eggs, or make with a Sparkling Cube.
A capture in Aniimo is never just the creature. Each one can trigger a bonus roll that pays credits, Sparkling Crystals and Prismana energy, and each one feeds your XP and your region's capture progression whether the bonus fires or not.
Then there is the creature itself, whose quality you cannot see until you get it appraised. This guide goes through all of it in the order it matters: the loot first, then the pods that farm it best, then progression, then what you actually caught.
Lucky Strike and Super Lucky Strike: what each one pays
Any capture can trigger a Lucky Strike or a Super Lucky Strike. Both yield bonus resources and Prismana energy on top of the catch itself.
The difference is in the extras. A Lucky Strike awards bonus credits. A Super Lucky Strike awards bonus credits and Sparkling Crystals, and it pays a large amount of materials: around 50 to 60 Sparkling Crystals from a single Super Lucky capture. That is the roll worth hoping for, because it is one of the few ways to get crystals in bulk without opening chests.
Lucky Strike
- Awards bonus credits
- Yields bonus resources and Prismana energy
Super Lucky Strike
- Awards bonus credits and Sparkling Crystals
- Around 50 to 60 Sparkling Crystals per capture
- Rewards a large amount of materials
Where Sparkling Crystals come from
Sparkling Crystals have three sources: overworld chests, Super Lucky Strikes while capturing wild Aniimo, and Mass Surges. Mass Surges are the farm. You can keep pulling crystals from one for as long as your Aniipods last, which turns the crystal supply into a question of how many pods you brought. How surges work is covered in its own guide.
One thing to keep straight, since the names overlap: Sparkling Crystals are a material you collect. A Sparkling Aniimo is a shiny variant of a creature with a changed appearance. Earning crystals does not make your catch Sparkling.
Which Aniipods to throw for lucky loot and Prismana
Cheap pods win here. Regular Aniipods are sufficient for outbreak catches and yield more lucky catches per coin than Pro or Mega pods. If the reward you are after is the Lucky Strike payout rather than one particular creature, spending up on pods just costs you strikes.
The same goes for Prismana. Prismana farming only needs the cheapest Aniipods, and lower-grade Aniipods also earn a special currency in a repeatable event. So the pods you would otherwise ignore are the ones doing the farming.
XP, region progress and what catches are for
Every capture grants player experience. The first capture of a new species in each area pays bonus XP, which means a creature you already own is still worth catching again in a new area.
Captures also count toward your region. Catching the Aniimo found in each region advances that region's capture progression, and that progression is part of your overall progression. Filling out a region's list is not just collecting for its own sake.
Once caught, an Aniimo can fight for you. When your homeland reaches level 2, captured Aniimo can also be assigned to home tasks, so spare catches have a job.
Catch quality: Potential, perfect stats and Sparkling Aniimo
You do not know how good a catch is when you make it. Its Potential grade, an Attribute Rank of Common, Good, Elite or Perfect, sets its stat ceiling, and it stays hidden as "Unappraised" until you submit the creature in a catch report at an Outpost's Research Console. The console evaluates it and reveals the grade. Until you do that, an elite Aniimo and a common one look the same in your box.
Captured creatures can arrive in normal, elite or perfect condition, and even a standard cube has a random chance of producing perfect stats. You do not need special gear to land a perfect catch; you need volume and an appraisal.
For Sparkling Aniimo, you have three routes. You can find them in the wild, hatch them from eggs (including rare eggs found in the wild), or use a Sparkling Cube, a rare capture device that turns any wild Aniimo it catches into its Sparkling variant. Whether that cube also guarantees perfect stats is answered in its own guide.
- CommonFirst rank. The rank sets the creature's stat ceiling.
- GoodSecond rank. Shown as Unappraised until a Research Console evaluates the catch.
- EliteCaptures can arrive in elite condition.
- PerfectTop rank. Even a standard cube has a random chance of perfect stats.
Where to start
Throw Regular Aniipods for Lucky Strikes and Prismana, and spend your pods in Mass Surges when you want Sparkling Crystals. Catch every new species in every area for the bonus XP and region progress. Take your catches to an Outpost's Research Console before you decide which ones to keep.
