Lumin Amber is one of those resources that looks optional for the first few hours and then quietly turns out to be load-bearing. It sits in the open world of Idyll, you gather it while you do other things, and it pays for upgrades you will absolutely want.
The important part: certain abilities and game modes are locked behind it. Bypassing Lumin Amber does not just slow you down, it stops you reaching things.
If you have already skipped a region's worth, you have not lost anything permanently. Lumin Amber is not a resource that runs out. But you have made yourself a chore.
The game tells you when one is close
You get an on-screen alert whenever a Lumin Amber is nearby. That single feature changes how you should play. You are not meant to sweep a map methodically looking for glints. You are meant to be doing something else, notice the alert, and detour.
This is why opportunistic collecting works so well. Grab them while you are questing and you avoid the tedious backtracking that comes from finishing a region, realising you need Lumin Amber, and walking the whole place again with nothing else to do.
Where it comes from
Lumin Amber turns up across the open world through exploration, puzzles, mini-games, time trials and Sanctums. That spread matters, because it means the content you were probably going to do anyway is also the content that pays.
Completing Sanctums rewards Lumin Amber directly, so they are worth clearing on their own terms. Collecting Lumin Amber can also award eggs alongside other prizes, and it contributes toward regional exploration progress. One pickup, three things ticking up at once.
What it buys
Collecting Lumin Amber increases your maximum stamina. That is the effect you feel first and constantly, because stamina governs how far you can push before the world makes you stop.
Beyond that, Lumin Amber is spent to upgrade regional branches and their passive trees. The nurturing ability comes out of that same pipeline: you gather Lumin Amber, you upgrade the Branch, you unlock nurturing. True flight requires Lumin Amber too.
So the shape of it is simple. Stamina makes exploring easier. True flight makes it faster. The branch passives make you stronger. All three run through the same collectible.
If you have been ignoring it
The fix is not complicated, just unglamorous. Because Lumin Amber is not a resource that runs out, you can go back and top up whatever you skipped. Nothing has expired.
What you have done is front-load the boredom. A pass through a region purely to collect is far duller than picking things up while a quest gives you somewhere to be. Start listening for the alert now and the problem stops growing.
