Server Selection and Character Creation

Aniimo runs on separate regional servers, and those servers are region locked. Treat the server list as a commitment rather than a lobby. Your progression, game data and characters are tied to the server you create them on. There is no cross-progression and no character transfer between regions. Progress only carries over between accounts linked on the same server.

That makes a second server a fresh start, not a move. If you create a character on another server, you begin from the beginning there. The upside is that nothing is lost. Your original character is not deleted, and its save stays on the first server for when you come back. You can keep characters on more than one server at once.

If you remember logging in early and finding nothing: before the 23 September launch the game could be pre-downloaded, but the servers were not live yet. The server list was blank and the mobile client told players to wait and try again. That is behind us now. How servers interact with crossplay is covered in the site's crossplay and server guide.

The character creator gives you more control than a handful of presets. The eye options are customisable, and one of them is a glowing eye effect in a colour you choose.

The more useful tool is Face Blend. It combines different facial presets, so you aren't stuck taking a preset wholesale. You can take a feature such as the hairstyle or the makeup from one specific preset and keep the rest of the face from another. If you like one preset's hair and another's face, that is what it's for.

Here is the catch with all that freedom: names are first come, first served. If you spend a long time in the creator, someone else on your server may claim a common name before you confirm yours. If you have a short or popular name in mind, settle the look you want, then don't linger.

Once your server is picked and your character exists, you receive exclusive profile card backgrounds automatically. You don't need to do anything to claim them.

The prologue puts you under the Polaris Institute. Dr. Lewis is an instructor in its pathfinding department, and he oversees expedition entry and admission selection, so he is the one deciding whether you get in.

Your first major decision there is a starter Aniimo, and you only get one. The choice can't be changed without restarting the game. The pairing is a moon spirit against a sun spirit. Helion is the sun side and Lunara is the moon side.

The details around these two aren't fixed. Lunara, Spirit of the Moon, is a Light-type Aniimo that appears both as a fox and as a divine wolf. Her Sun counterpart, Spirit of the Sun, goes by Caelion, Helion, Elion or Halcyon. The starters are also given as a lineup that includes Fenelon. Whichever name you see in your game, it's still a single pick, and you're stuck with it unless you start over.

05Where to start

Pick the server for the region you plan to stay in, since nothing moves between them. A second server is a fresh start that leaves your first character untouched. In the creator, use Face Blend to mix presets, but claim your name before you spend too long on the details. Choose your starter carefully, because changing it means restarting the game.
