Are Sparkling Aniimo worth it? Stats, perks and uses

Sparkling adds no stats, but it survives evolution, passes to expedition eggs, earns bonus research credits and lifts Homeland output to 270 Bud Tickets a day.

The short version

  1. Sparkling status is purely visual: a Sparkling Aniimo has the same stats as its standard form, with no special attacks.
  2. A Sparkling Aniimo stays Sparkling when it evolves, and Sparkling creatures sent on expeditions have a chance to return eggs of the same variant.
  3. In the Homeland, a sparkling featured Prismana produces 270 Bud Tickets a day, and research pays extra bonus credits for analysing Sparkling variants.
  4. The research station's batch release filters protect Sparkling Aniimo, so clearing commons will not throw one away.
  5. Whether the plain Sparkling Egg and the Sparkling Cube guarantee a Sparkling result is not settled; the Departure Sparkling Egg and eggs with the Super Dazzling label do guarantee it.

Sparkling is Aniimo's shiny. It is a rare colour variant with altered colours and body markings and a sparkling aura, and players also call it shiny or glimmering. If you are asking whether one will hit harder than your regular copy, the answer is no.

That does not make it worthless. Sparkling status follows a creature through evolution, can be passed on through expedition eggs, and pays out in the Homeland, in research and in events. This page covers what Sparkling does and does not change, and where it actually earns its keep.

Sparkling Aniimo have no extra stats

Sparkling is purely visual. A Sparkling variant has no stat increases over the standard form, no inflated base stats and no special attacks. The same goes for the Dazzling and Shadow Sparkling types: they are cosmetic variants too, and they sit independently of everything else about the creature.

That independence is the useful part. Sparkling is distinct from Prismana forms, and an Aniimo can spawn as both a Prismana form and Sparkling at once. It can go further than that. One creature can combine Alpha size, a sparkling variation, an alternate form and high potential. So you never have to choose between a Sparkling copy and a strong one. When you get a Sparkling with good potential, that is simply your best copy, and it also looks different.

If you only care about battle numbers, Sparkling is not worth chasing for its own sake. Potential and form decide strength. Sparkling decides looks, plus the perks below.

Homeland, research and release perks

The clearest practical payoff is in the Homeland. Sparkling Prismana Aniimo in the house raise daily output, and a sparkling featured Prismana produces 270 Bud Tickets a day. That turns a cosmetic catch into a steady income.

Research rewards them as well. Analysing Aniimo through research awards credits, and Sparkling variants earn extra bonus credits on top.

The research station also protects them from your own housekeeping. Its menu has filter options that batch release common, good and elite Aniimo automatically, and those filters skip Sparkling Aniimo. You can clear out a full box of commons without checking each one for a sparkle first.

270

Bud Tickets a day

A sparkling featured Prismana in the house produces this much daily output, so a Sparkling copy is worth keeping at home.

What carries over: evolution, eggs and expeditions

A Sparkling Aniimo stays Sparkling when it evolves, so there is no reason to hold off evolving one.

Expeditions are where Sparkling starts to multiply. Expeditions can return eggs, and Prismana or Sparkling creatures you send have a chance to bring back eggs of the same variant. Trip eggs can inherit sparkling mutations and Prismana forms from the Aniimo you dispatched. A Sparkling that does nothing else for you can still be sent out as a way to fish for more. The full egg side of this has its own guide on Prismana eggs.

Hatching has a visual tell, but only on one pod. Legendary Anipods have an exclusive sparkling hatch effect. Regular, Pursuit and Pro Anipods show no extra hatching effect.

The Aniimo Sparkling Egg and other ways to get one

Sparkling Aniimo turn up in the wild and from hatching eggs, including eggs you find in the wild.

The plain Sparkling Egg is the confusing one. Whether it guarantees a Sparkling hatch is not settled. It is described both as always hatching a Sparkling Aniimo, though with no guarantee of elite rarity or potential, and as carrying no Sparkling guarantee at all. What is settled is that some eggs do guarantee it: the Departure Sparkling Egg, and eggs with the Super Dazzling label. If a guaranteed Sparkling matters to you, those are the safe picks. Egg types and their guarantees are covered in their own guide.

The Sparkling Cube (also known as the Sparkling Pod, Gleam Cube, Twinkle Cube or Shiny Cube) is bought with real money and has a guaranteed 100% catch rate, so it always captures a spawned Prismana. Whether it also guarantees a Sparkling result is not settled. It is given as a full guarantee, as a 99% chance of a standard gleaming variant, and as only a better chance. Whether it guarantees perfect potential is unsettled in the same way, though it does not lower quality. Players commonly save Cubes to make Umbra forms Sparkling. Which targets deserve one is the subject of its own guide.

Events and the Wind Chaser badge

During the "Time to Aniimo!" web event, collecting all five featured Aniimo in their Sparkling forms upgrades your profile card background to Sparkling Idyll (also given as Sparkling Idol). Missing any one of the five means no upgrade.

The Wind Chaser badge raises the odds of finding Sparkling in the open world. Its first stage raises Sparkling and Umbral spawn rates by about 50%, to roughly 1 in 13,000 for Sparkling and 1 in 2,000 for Umbral. Where that bonus applies is unsettled: it is given both as the whole map and as Breezy Plains only. Even boosted, those odds show why wild Sparkling hunting is a long game.

Where to start

Don't chase Sparkling for battle stats, because it adds none. Keep every one you get, though. Put Sparkling Prismana in the house for Bud Tickets, send spare Sparklings on expeditions to fish for same-variant eggs, and let research pay its bonus credits. If you want a guaranteed Sparkling hatch, pick the Departure Sparkling Egg or a Super Dazzling egg over the plain Sparkling Egg.
