Bloom shard offerings: choosing which Aniimo nurture spawns
With no offering, a nurture rolls from the bloom's regional pool. A shard, a dark shard or a Fire Sprout Biscuit fixes that, and a higher gauge brings evolutions.
The short version
- Nurturing a bloom with no offering gives you a random Aniimo from that bloom's regional pool. A shard or offering is how you choose.
- An elemental shard brings out 20 Aniimo from that element's family, while a dark shard brings out only its own specific Aniimo.
- Offerings and shards never change how much charge goes into the bloom bar, and higher-tier items no longer make a better Wild Surge.
- Pushing the nurture gauge to higher stages can spawn higher or final evolutions of whatever the bloom is attracting.
- Nurture shards come from the weekly stamp shop, Holo Battle Interlink, Elite Training, the nurture branch, catch completion rewards and Joff at the outpost.
If you nurture a bloom and put nothing in, it picks an Aniimo at random from the bloom's regional pool. That is fine when you just want something to catch. When you want a particular type, a particular creature or a later evolution, the offering slot is where you get to choose.
This guide covers what shards and offerings actually change, which special items add creatures to a bloom, how to get evolutions and Umbrals out of a nurture, what weather does, and where nurture shards come from. The charge and release side of blooms for Prismana has its own article. Here it comes up only where it changes which creature you get.
What a shard or offering changes at a bloom
Socket the shard into the bloom before you start the Nurture. It works by attracting a particular type of Aniimo, which raises the chance that the type you want turns up instead of something random from the regional pool.
The two kinds of shard behave differently. An elemental shard offered as tribute spawns 20 Aniimo from that element's family, so you get a crowd of related creatures. A dark shard is narrower: it spawns only its own specific Aniimo. Use an elemental shard when any member of a family will do. Use a dark shard when you want one creature and nothing else.
Group appearance events work the same way on a smaller scale. Submitting an offering starts the event and decides which of the two Aniimo spawns.
An offering only changes what turns up. It does not change how much charge or progress goes into the bloom bar, so there is no reason to save shards for the filling stage. Item quality no longer decides how good a Wild Surge is either, which means a higher-tier offering will not get you a better surge. Spend the cheapest item that attracts the creature you are after.
No offering
- Spawns an Aniimo chosen at random from the bloom's regional pool
- Same charge to the bloom bar as an offering
Shard offering
- An elemental shard spawns 20 Aniimo of that element's family
- A dark shard spawns only its specific Aniimo
- Does not change the charge added to the bloom bar
Items that add a specific Aniimo to the spawn table
Some creatures need a particular item or a particular place. Fire Sprout Biscuits (also called flame cookies) can be used at a Bloom to nurture its ecosystem, and they add a unique catchable Aniimo, Sparkelves, to the spawn table. Without the biscuits, it is not in the pool.
Melloblum is tied to a location. You find it in Rose Tower Woods, where you nurture it at a designated plant rather than at any bloom you like.
For other targeted spawns, check Joff. His trade menu has a nurture section selling items that spawn specific creatures, so when you are hunting one creature it is the first place to look.
Getting evolutions, Umbrals and Wild Surges from a nurture
Most evolution hunting at a bloom comes down to the gauge. Higher nurture (cultivation) gauge stages can spawn higher or final evolutions of the Aniimo the bloom is attracting. Put a shard in to choose the family, then keep the gauge climbing to reach its later forms. Bloom events now last 3 minutes, up from 2, which gives you more time to push the gauge before the event ends.
Wild Surges are the large version. Activating a Nurture Session at a regional branch triggers one, and local wild Aniimo gather around the bloom. Nurturing a bloom on a tree or a convergence point with Vein Essence triggers outbreaks and Wild Surges, which put a circle of about 20 wild Aniimo native to that region around the spot for you to catch.
Surges are also where Umbrals come from. Wild Surges triggered by ecosystem nurturing have a chance to spawn rare Umbral Aniimo, and Umbrals can spawn at random during tree nurturing too. You cannot force one with an offering, so expect it to take repeated nurtures.
Whatever turns up, catch it. Defeating Aniimo spawned by nurturing or Wild Surges adds no Vein Essence and no progress toward the zone's Prismana, so knocking them out gives you nothing.

Weather spawns and the Change Weather screen
Before you commit, open the bloom's Change Weather screen. It previews which Aniimo can spawn during the event, Prismana included, so you can check the creature you want is actually in the pool.
Outside nurturing, weather-specific Aniimo spawn only once per weather event, such as a thunderstorm. If you miss it, you wait for the next one. That is a good reason to want control over the weather.
What unlocks weather control in an area is not settled. It is tied to submitting 60 Amber pieces in that area, to earning the silver badge in that area, and to activating blooms and upgrading the region's bloom branch in the map system. The bloom branch upgrades also fill out the nurture menu, and Prismana weather control becomes available at 60 percent completion of the bloom graph.
Where to get nurture shards
Nurture shards come from several places, and most are things you are already doing:
The weekly stamp shop. Holo Battle Interlink. Elite Training. The nurture branch. Catch completion rewards. Joff at the outpost.
The weekly stamp shop restocks each week, so it is worth checking regularly. Joff is the one source you can visit whenever you want, and his nurture section also sells the creature-specific items covered above.
Where to start
Choose the creature first, then the item. Use an elemental shard for a family, a dark shard for one specific Aniimo, Fire Sprout Biscuits for Sparkelves, and check the Change Weather preview before you start. Then push the gauge high to reach evolutions and catch everything that spawns, because defeating them gets you nothing.
