Guaranteed potential: eggs, Ultra pods, Umbrals, evolution
Incredible, Perfect and Umbral eggs set a floor on potential. A plain Anipod sets none, even for an Alpha egg. Evolution keeps whatever grade you start with.

The short version
- Incredible Eggs, such as those in Beast Fang Ridge, guarantee Elite potential or higher, and Perfect Eggs guarantee perfect potential.
- Hatching in a standard Anipod rolls everything at random, so even an Alpha egg can come out with only Good potential.
- Umbral eggs hatch Umbral Aniimo with perfect potential, but whether every Umbral Aniimo, wild ones included, is perfect is not settled.
- Potential carries through evolution and form changes, so check the grade before you evolve; Infergon will only evolve from a Perfect Jawling or Helmwhelp.
- Version 1.1 gives Irisalis fixed potential values that are the same for every player, and potential above them is converted into Essence.
Potential is the grade an Aniimo is born with, and most of the time it is a roll. A few eggs, pods and rewards take the roll away and promise you a minimum. Knowing which ones do, and which only look like they do, decides where your best hatches and catches should go.
The second half of the story is evolution. A grade does not reset when a creature evolves or changes form. That makes the base form the moment that matters, and it is why one evolution in particular refuses anything less than Perfect.
The egg types themselves and the pod tiers have their own guides on this site. This page sticks to the guarantees.
Which eggs guarantee a grade, and why an Alpha egg doesn't
Start with what a plain hatch gives you. Hatching in a standard Anipod gives randomized characteristics. That includes the Alpha egg: hatch one in a standard Anipod and it can come out with only Good potential. The Alpha label on the egg is not a promise about the grade.
Some eggs do carry a promise. Incredible Eggs, such as those found in Beast Fang Ridge, guarantee a hatched Aniimo with Elite potential or higher. Perfect Eggs, along with certain other eggs, guarantee perfect potential. Umbral eggs hatch into Umbral Aniimo, which are guaranteed to have perfect potential.
You can also raise the floor from the incubator side. Using an Ultra Anicube guarantees that the hatched Aniimo has at least elite potential.
Outside those guarantees, perfect quality is still possible, just not promised. Perfect-quality Aniimo can sometimes come from eggs, Prismana eggs included. Sometimes is the operative word.
- Standard AnipodRandom characteristics. Even an Alpha egg can hatch with only Good potential.
- Incredible EggElite potential or higher, as found in Beast Fang Ridge.
- Perfect EggThe hatched Aniimo is guaranteed perfect potential.
Ultra Anipods and the Sparkling Cube
An Anipod Ultra ensures at least Elite potential. Beyond that floor, the details are not settled. Whether the true minimum is higher (Epic potential, or an Ultra rating or above), or whether Elite is only a chance rather than a certainty, is unsettled in the current game. It is also unsettled whether an Anipod Ultra guarantees capturing a wild creature, top-tier Aniimo included, or only gives you a chance. Treat Elite as what you are paying for and anything more as a bonus.
The Sparkling Cube (also called a Sparkling Pod, Sparkling Aniipod, Gleam Cube, Twinkle Cube or Shiny Cube) is bought with real money. One thing about it is firm: it has a guaranteed 100% catch rate, so throwing one at a spawned Prismana always captures it.
Almost everything else is unsettled. It may guarantee that whatever you catch or hatch with it becomes the Sparkling variant, Prismana included, turning an Alpha into a Perfect Sparkling Alpha. It may instead give a 99% chance of a standard gleaming variant, or only a chance of the sparkling attribute. Perfect potential is just as open. It may always guarantee perfect potential and perfect stats, including overriding an egg's guaranteed elite potential and raising it to perfect, or it may promise only elite, or no elite result at all. The one point that holds either way is that it does not lower quality. If you are spending real money on one, the catch rate is the only thing you can count on.
Umbral Aniimo and Prismana forms
Umbral Aniimo (also written Umbrawl or Umbra Aniimo) have a reputation for perfect potential, and an Umbral egg does hatch one with perfect potential. Whether every Umbral Aniimo is perfect is not settled. On one reading they always spawn with perfect base stats, wild ones included, regardless of level, form or capture device. On the other they can spawn with normal, elite or perfect grades. Check the grade on a wild one rather than assuming it.
Prismana forms are in the same position. A Prismana form is not guaranteed to be perfect rarity. The colour tells you it is rare to find, not that its potential is maxed.
How potential survives evolution
An Aniimo's potential carries over through evolution. A perfect base form evolves into a perfect evolved form, and a good-tier one evolves into a good-tier form. Changing form works the same way, and this holds for Umbral Aniimo too. Evolving keeps the grade; it never upgrades it.
That makes the order of operations simple. Check quality before you evolve, because the evolved creature keeps the tier of the base form you used. It also gives you a practical route to a perfect evolved form: catch many base-form Aniimo, keep the perfect one, and evolve that.
Infergon is where this stops being advice and becomes a rule. It can only be evolved from a Jawling or Helmwhelp with a Perfect potential rating. Good or Elite quality is not enough. If you want Infergon, you are hunting for a Perfect pre-evolution first, and nothing else will do.

Fixed potential: the battle pass, Irisalis and trading
Some rewards skip the roll entirely. The battle pass includes a Prismana Fulmintis with maxed initial potential, starting at 8 in Attack and 8 in Regen.
Irisalis is the other fixed case, and it changed in version 1.1. Before that, Legendary Aniimo such as Irisalis could be obtained only once and had randomly rolled potential, so a poor roll was the only roll you got. Version 1.1 replaces Irisalis's random innate potential with fixed values that are the same for every player. If your existing Irisalis had potential above the new fixed values, the excess is converted into Essence as compensation, so a lucky roll is not simply lost.
Potential also limits what you can trade. Higher friendship levels let you gift or trade rarer, higher-level Aniimo and special forms, and the maximum tradable potential rises through caps of 8, 9 and 10. A high-grade creature may need a well-developed friendship before it can change hands.
Where to start
If you want a guaranteed grade, hatch Incredible, Perfect or Umbral eggs, or use an Ultra Anicube. Don't spend an Alpha egg on a standard Anipod and expect a good roll. Check potential before every evolution, and keep any Perfect Jawling or Helmwhelp for Infergon.
