Can you play Egg Heist solo? Squads, matchmaking and PvP
Egg Heist's PvP mode is not live and has no release date. The PvE side can be finished alone on normal and hard, and fill is switched on unless you turn it off.
The short version
- Egg Heist PvP is not available yet. Only the PvE mode can be played, and no PvP release date has been announced.
- You can queue for Egg Heist alone and finish it solo on both normal and hard mode.
- Matchmaking fill is on by default. The fill team option sits in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Friends can form a team and join your Egg Heist party, though whether co-op tops out at two or three players depends on the mode and is not settled.
- During the beta, some Egg Heist rewards could only be earned through its PvP mode.
Short version: yes, you can play Egg Heist solo, and no, Egg Heist PvP is not live. The mode you can play right now is PvE. You can run it alone, with friends, or with strangers the game finds for you.
Egg Heist is one of Aniimo's multiplayer activities, alongside team battlegrounds and PvP. Teams drop into a region called both the Lost Isles and the Lost Islands; the name is not settled. The questions people actually have are about who drops in with them, how fill works, and when the PvP side arrives. That is what this page covers.
Is Egg Heist PvP?
Not at the moment. PvP is not yet available in Egg Heist. Only the PvE mode can be played, and no release date has been announced for PvP.
It matters because of rewards. During the beta, certain Egg Heist rewards could only be earned through its PvP mode. If those rewards come back tied to PvP again, you cannot earn them until that mode opens. For now, anything you get from Egg Heist comes from PvE.
For how PvP duels and duel arenas work in the rest of the game, see the main article on Aniimo PvP duels, duel arenas and Egg Heist team modes.
Playing Egg Heist solo
You do not need a squad. You can queue for Egg Heist matchmaking on your own, and the mode can be completed solo on both normal and hard mode. The PvE mode of Operation Egg Heist can be played without a partner at all.
In a fight, your main Aniimo does the work. The Aniimo in your second to fourth team slots only come out to use their core or support skill, then control goes back to the main one. So going in solo does not mean going in with one creature. Your back row still chips in; it just never takes over.
Solo play across the rest of Aniimo, including AI teammates, has its own article: Can you play Aniimo solo? Solo modes and AI teammates.
Squads, matchmaking and the fill option
Egg Heist is built around squads of three, and matchmaking puts three-player teams into the Lost Isles together. If you queue alone, the game assumes you want company. Egg Heist defaults to matchmaking fill teammates.
The fill team option sits in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Leave it on and the game finds teammates for you. That is the setting to check if you meant to run alone and ended up with strangers, or meant to wait for a friend and got matched before they joined.
Playing Egg Heist with friends
Friends can form a team and join your Egg Heist party, and you can queue together as a group instead of solo.
The catch is party size, which is not settled. Egg Heist supports cooperative parties of up to three players, matching its three-player squads. The PvE mode of Operation Egg Heist, however, is also described as co-op for a two-player team with a friend. Which limit you get depends on the mode you are in. If a third friend cannot get into a PvE party, that is the reason, and fill matchmaking is how the squad gets topped up.
Solo queue
- Queue for matchmaking on your own
- Defaults to matchmaking fill teammates
- Can be completed solo on normal and hard mode
Friends party
- Friends form a team and join an Egg Heist party
- Queue for matchmaking as a group
- Fill team option sits in the bottom right corner
Where to start
Want to play alone? Turn off fill in the bottom-right corner and queue. Normal and hard can both be finished solo. Want company? Leave fill on, or bring friends into your party. Do not plan around Egg Heist PvP or its rewards until a release date is announced.
