Sparkling Aniimo: Shiny Variants and Sparkling Cubes

A Sparkling Aniimo glows and shimmers with a coloured outline. Beyond that, it comes in several alternate skin palettes, including rainbow designs with shimmering diamond, pearlescent and particle effects. Each species has a set of these Sparkling variants alongside its normal form, and you can browse them in the in-game creature index.

How many variants each species has is not settled. It is counted both as 10, with standard variants running from Type 1 to Type 10, and as 12, with at least three visibly different styles. On top of the standard types sit Dazzling and Shadow, the rarest Sparkling types, which roll less often than Types 1 to 10.

You cannot pick your colour. Sparkling Aniimo come in different colours and no specific one can be guaranteed.

Then the part that matters most for your team: Sparkling status is purely cosmetic. A Sparkling variant has no stat increases over the standard form. If you are chasing a stronger Aniimo, Sparkling is not the lever. If you want one that looks rare, it is.

Sparkling and Prismana are distinct, and the two get mixed up constantly. Sparkling is the colour mutation described above. Prismana is its own form, and the two can stack.

There are a few ways to end up with a sparkling Prismana. A Sparkling Cube thrown at a spawned Prismana always captures it, and catching an Aniimo with a Sparkling Cube makes it a sparkling version, prismatics and Umbras included. Alternatively, apply a Prismana Orb to an Aniimo that is already sparkling. The result is a sparkling Prismana that keeps traits such as Alpha status and perfect potential, so you lose nothing by doing it in that order.

Prismana sparkling colours have their own count, and it is likewise unsettled at either ten or twelve. Ten common colours together appear at a 99% rate, which leaves anything beyond them very rare.

The Sparkling Cube is the main way to get a Sparkling Aniimo on purpose. It is a premium Anipod bought with real money, and it goes by a long list of names: Sparkling Pod, Sparkling Aniipod, Sparkling Anipot, Gleam Cube, Twinkle Cube, Shiny Cube and Shiny Anicube among them. Sparkling Cubes are scarce and harder to come by than standard Anipods.

Two things are solid. First, the cube has a guaranteed 100% catch rate. Second, catching a wild Aniimo with one gives a common sparkling style 99% of the time, a dazzling style 1% of the time, and never a shadow style. If you want a Shadow, a wild cube catch is not how you get it.

Beyond the wild catch, the cube's reach is not settled. It is described as making any wild or hatched Aniimo sparkling, as working on an Aniimo you have already caught, Prismana included, and as turning an Alpha (including one hatched from an Alpha egg such as a Sherro alpha egg) into a Perfect Sparkling Alpha. It is also described far more modestly, as only a chance at the sparkling attribute or an easier shiny capture.

This is where the "sparkling elite" and "are sparkling eggs perfect" questions land, and the honest answer is that it is not settled. One account of the launch update has the cube always guaranteeing perfect potential and perfect stats on anything caught with it, Alphas and Prismana included, and raising an egg's guaranteed elite potential to perfect. The other has it still able to roll imperfect stats, Alphas included, possibly only elite, possibly only a minimum starting stat value of 8, or with no promise of an elite result at all. The one thing both agree on is that a Sparkling Cube does not lower quality. Treat perfect stats as a possible bonus, not the reason to throw one.

Cubes are not the only route. Aniimo can gain the Sparkling trait through items as well as through capture.

The sparkling egg route is covered in full in the article on egg types, guaranteed potential and mutations, so here is the short version. Sparkling hatches are rare, with prismatic eggs carrying a 0.5% chance of a sparkling or shadow mutation, and an egg that carries the sparkling mutation is guaranteed to hatch a Sparkling Aniimo. You can also apply a Sparkling Cube to certain eggs during incubation to add sparkling hues, which makes shinies easier to obtain.

Sparkling Stamps are the slow, steady option. Collect ten and you can convert an Aniimo into its sparkling form.

In the open world, the Wind Chaser badge raises Sparkling and Umbral spawn rates. Its first stage adds about 50%, bringing the odds to roughly 1 in 13,000 for Sparkling and 1 in 2,000 for Umbral. Whether that bonus covers the whole map or only Breezy Plains is not settled, so if you are hunting with it, Breezy Plains is the safe place to do it.

Got a sparkling in a colour you do not like? Sparkling Pigment is a consumable that rerolls the colour style of an existing Sparkling Aniimo.

It only works on an Aniimo that is already Sparkling. It cannot make a normal one shiny. Each use rolls the colour at random, so you are not choosing a result, just trying again. Every roll does carry a chance at the Dazzling style, which makes Pigment one of the few ways to chase that rare finish on an Aniimo you already own.

Because Sparkling is cosmetic and cubes are scarce, the question is not whether a cube works but whether this target deserves it. Keep them for the Aniimo you actually intend to field: confirmed meta picks, Alphas with strong core skills, Prismana eggs, a Vein Abundance Aniimo you have been after, or Prismana Aniimo, where the colour change is most noticeable.

Avoid spending them on every Prismana you catch, on your first Alphas, or on early monsters whose worth is not yet confirmed. A sparkling version of something you bench is a waste of a scarce item.

You can also convert Sparkling Crystals at the Outpost Vendor, though the rates are not settled. One Sparkling Anipod costs either 1,000 or 100 Sparkling Crystals, and one Sparkling Cube is listed at 1,000, 100 or 5. Check the vendor yourself before you plan around any of those numbers.

07Where to start

Treat Sparkling as a look, not a power upgrade. Save Sparkling Cubes for Aniimo you will keep on your active team, and don't count on a cube for perfect stats. Use Sparkling Pigment if you want a different colour, and stack a Prismana Orb on top of a sparkling if you want both.
